Summary:The Associate Director will serve as a key leader in advancing student success initiatives and operational excellence, with responsibilities including: provide academic intervention and advising support to a case load of professional students; develop and enhance the use of academic success plans and executive functioning support initiatives; oversee the alignment of support resources for all of the office’s orientation-related programming (in-person and online Prematriculation courses), including intake appointments to align services and advising workflows; managing the implementation and utilization of assessment tools (e.g., MAI, NFC, and related survey options) to support early identification of at-risk students; assist with the coordination and oversight of peer tutoring services; provide leadership in data collection, analysis, and reporting to inform student success strategies by assessing the utilization and satisfaction of office services; identify trends to guide retention and persistence efforts for key stakeholders across the university through the integration of student support initiatives.
Principal Functional Responsibilities:Program Development and Planning: Assist in development and planning of Learning Center programs and resources to continue to enhance a proactive approach to academic success of our student populations, with an assigned cohort of students. Serve as the office’s primary advisor and liaison to an identified cohort or college, respective to the needs of the office and institution. Collaborate with the respective colleges to serve in an adjunct faculty member role to provide presentations related to learning support education within the curriculum. Develop, implement, and maintain electronic and online Learning Center services needed to enhance student success.
Academic Intervention and Advising: Provide academic intervention and advising for a case load of professional students, including tracking academic progress through grade dashboards and creating academic success plans; initiating student contact; advising students on how to enhance learning and performance, and supporting students on a leave of absence. Managing the implementation and utilization of assessment tools (e.g., MAI, NFC, and related survey options) to support early identification of at-risk students and enhancing the use of executive functioning support initiatives.
Data Analysis & Retention Support: Provide leadership in data collection, analysis, and reporting to inform student success strategies by assessing the utilization and satisfaction of office services and make recommendations for strategic and efficient Learning Center approaches. Oversee the development and sustainability of an office assessment plan. Collaborate with campus stakeholders and provide leadership regarding retention and progression initiatives to attain key annual objectives for the department and respective colleges within the university. Identify trends to guide retention and persistence efforts for key stakeholders across the university through the integration of student support initiatives. Assist with accreditation preparation and visits.
Orientation Support Services: Oversee the development and implementation of support resources for the office’s orientation-related programming (in-person and online Prematriculation courses), including the alignment of services and advising workflows from intake, follow-up, and academic intervention appointments.
Peer Teaching Programs: Assist with the coordination and oversight of the peer teaching programs, such as tutoring, supplemental instruction, and student learning assistants, which include oversight of staff responsible for the hiring, onboarding, budget projections, timecard approvals, scheduling, and student utilization of services.
Miscellaneous Duties: Perform other duties as assigned including assisting with special events such as White Coat ceremonies and Commencement.
Qualifications:- Master’s degree in higher education administration, educational psychology, higher education, student affairs, special education, intervention specialist, basic sciences or related field.
- Minimum of (2) years’ experience with learning skill development, diagnostic and prescriptive advising.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience working in a post-secondary education setting, preferably with medical professionals.
- Experience providing diagnostic/prescriptive advising and learning skills assistance, specifically using learning assessment tools such as the Metacognitive Awareness Inventory (MAI) and/or the Need for Cognition Scale (NFC).
- Experience advising and supporting neurodivergent student learners.
- Experience with Maxient software for case management.
- Experience with Canvas, or related Learning Management Software.
Physical Requirements:Must be able to utilize a phone, computer and other office equipment. Ability to work flexible hours to support all activities of the office.

Starting Salary Range: $47,689 – $56,432, commensurate with experience
