Salary Range: $72,930 -$78,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Summary

The Associate Director provides strategic leadership for the university's Working Learner initiative, transforming on campus student employment into a career-ready learning experience. This role leads the professionalization of student employment by establishing universal standards of practice, aligning student employment outcomes with NACE career readiness competencies, and advancing the institution's Future Ready Roadrunners priorities. This role oversees the Working Learner Hub and supervises the Student Employment Specialist, ensuring the development of scalable training, resources, and support structures for both student employees and supervisors. The Associate Director, through cross campus collaboration, data informed assessment, and intentional integration of career readiness, leadership development, and life design, builds a cohesive, comprehensive, and developmentally focused student employment ecosystem that enhances student belonging, purpose, and post-graduation success.

 



Core Responsibilities

  1. Oversees the institutional initiative of professionalization of on campus student employment (working learners). To include creation of universal professionalization standards of practice, tracking of working learners, career readiness through student employment KPI's aligned with the NACE competencies and institutional priority of Future Ready Roadrunners.

     

  2. Operationalizes a robust portfolio of resources that is accessible to the campus community (supervisors and working learners).

     

  3. Collaborates with People Excellence, Financial Aid, Career Services, and campus supervisors to create structured processes, training, and ongoing support for supervisors.

     

  4. Creates an organized and streamlined approach to student employment to include hiring, onboarding, training, and development. Builds mechanisms (framework, trainings, modules, etc.) for personal and professional development to be replicated and implemented with working learners and supervisors across campus to include Clifton Strengths, character education, life design, leadership, and career trajectory.

     

  5. Oversees the Canvas Working Learner Module in partnership with Academic Innovation.

     

  6. Creates menu of micro-credentials that are accessible to working learners. This includes best practices on stackable credentials.

     

  7. Implements a universal career ladder, pay scale, and naming structure for working learners to include more uniform job postings and marketable skill development.

     

  8. Serves as the Handshake (internal job board) liaison to campus for jobs posting directed at working learners.

     

  9. Oversees student employment initiatives such as Working Learning Appreciation Week, Student Employee Supervisor Summit, and Student Employment Awards.

     

  10. Works with Director to implement zero credit tracking for working learners.

     

  11. Implements working learner dashboards for data story telling.

     

  12. Partners on character education programing/ life design to increase sense of belonging, unlock purpose. Build character/life design as part of student development.

     

  13. Supervision of the Student Employment Specialist.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.

     


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.

     

  • Five (5) years of supervisory or related work experience.

     

  • This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to travel to and from meetings on and off campus, training sessions or other business-related events. After hours and weekend work is required on an occasional basis.

     


Physical Demands

  • Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary - routinely walking and standing - occasionally. Bending and stooping - occasionally. Lifting and exerts up to 10 lbs. of force - occasionally.

     


This position will work primarily on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.

This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
