Description:
Purchase College, SUNY, is seeking an individual to join the Office of Disability Resources team and serve as a Learning Specialist of Cornerstone Connect, a service for students seeking executive functioning support. This is a 10-month position. The non-obligation period will include two weeks during winter break and the week of spring break (aligned with the academic calendar), and five weeks during summer break (all of June and first week of July).
Cornerstone Connect will offer enrollment to students needing support to enhance their learning experience, regardless of a disability/diagnosis. Upon acceptance to the program, students will be provided with the opportunity to engage in a number of program components, including 1:1 individualized coaching. While engaging in coaching, students will work with a trained learning specialist to articulate 2-3 goals in areas of interest or need as they pertain to academic, personal, and/or career preparation. The Learning Specialist reports to the Assistant Director of the Office of Disability Resources, within the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.
Qualifications:
Required Education/Qualifications:
• Master's degree in Disability Services, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Special Education, School Psychology, Rehabilitation Counseling, or related field required.
• 2 to 4 years of relevant experience required.
• Experience with disability inclusion in higher education or related experience with mental health disabilities, preferably in a college or university setting; knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining to persons with disabilities.
• Experience with creating and implementing workshops and social events.• Strong attention to detail, proven experience managing complex assignments and meeting required deadlines.
• Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
