College of Osteopathic Medicine – Faculty in Physiology

Job Description

 

Summary: 

D’Youville University College of Osteopathic Medicine invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Physiology. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of foundational and systems physiology within the preclinical osteopathic medical curriculum.

The faculty member will teach core physiological principles, including homeostasis, cellular physiology, and organ system function, ensuring alignment with osteopathic education standards and COMLEX expectations.

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and deliver physiology content in coordination with departmental leadership.
  • Teach lectures, small-group sessions, and case-based instruction covering foundational and systems physiology.
  • Contribute to instruction in cardiovascular, pulmonary, renal, gastrointestinal, endocrine, and neurophysiology.
  • Create and maintain assessment materials aligned with curricular goals and COMLEX preparation.
  • Integrate physiology concepts with pathology, pharmacology, and osteopathic clinical reasoning.
  • Mentor and advise medical students in academic and professional development.
  • Engage in scholarly activity in physiology, biomedical science, medical education, or related fields.
  • Serve on College committees and contribute to accreditation and institutional initiatives. 

Required Qualifications

  • D.O., M.D., or Ph.D. in Physiology or related field with substantial medical education experience.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience at the medical school level.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver rigorous biomedical content within an integrated curriculum.

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching physiology in an osteopathic or allopathic medical school.
  • Ability to integrate physiology concepts into systems-based and case-based curricula.
  • Familiarity with COMLEX expectations and NBOME blueprinting.
  • Record of scholarly productivity and student mentorship.
  • Experience with active learning methodologies (e.g., case-based learning, team-based learning).
  • Commitment to inclusive teaching practices and curricular innovation.

Work Location: Buffalo, NY

Job Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Pay: $80,000 - $100,000 Annually, Commensurate with experience, academic rank, board certification, and internal equity.

Start Date: Open Until Filled
