Position Title Supplemental Instruction Leader

Job Summary
In the Center for Academic Support (CAS), Supplemental Instruction (SI) is a series of weekly review sessions for students taking historically challenging courses. SI is provided for students who want to improve their understanding of course material and improve their grades. SI Leaders are students who have previously done well in the course and who plan and facilitate these review sessions each week. This position is for Spring 2026 semester.
Essential Duties
  • Attend all class meetings of the selected course, take notes, and read all assigned materials including texts and supplemental readings.
  • Conduct three or four 50-minute study sessions per week throughout the term (depending on the course), using strategies learned in the SI Leader training workshop.
  • Hold one office hour a week to plan SI sessions using of a wide variety of learning strategies.
  • Participate in all required trainings, meetings, and session observations.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with SI Supervisor and discuss problems or potential problems as needed.

  • Degree Seeking
  • Enrolled in a minimum of 6 Credit Hours
  • May need to qualify for federal work study financial aid assistance.
  • Must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA or above
  • Prior completion of the selected course with an A or B is required.
  • Content-competency, as determined by recommendation from course faculty member.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, as determined by SI Supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Have strong interpersonal and communication skills as it relates to interaction with students, faculty, staff and administrators.
Physical Demands Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
