Department Information

 

Armstrong Facility Operations

Job Summary

 

Oversee all facets of University daily maintenance operations at the Armstrong (Savannah) and Liberty (Hinesville) campuses. Ensure completion of maintenance tasks and projects.  Monitor activities and expenditures for compliance. Lead and manage the maintenance team for assigned campuses. Ensure customer satisfaction across campus with the delivery of operation, maintenance and repair services.

Responsibilities

 
  • Direct and oversee maintenance operations, including policy development, service prioritization, quality inspections, and scheduling of services for campus departments
  • Develop, implement, and manage departmental budgets, equipment replacement plans, inventory controls, and preventive maintenance programs
  • Lead departmental workforce planning by hiring, training, evaluating performance, and addressing staffing and development needs
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards by implementing departmental safety programs and promoting safe work practices
  • Provide technical expertise and coordinate maintenance, repair, renovation, and construction-related activities with campus stakeholders and Facilities departments
  • Administer contracts and monitor contractor performance, while controlling costs and expenditures associated with maintenance operations
  • Respond to emergency maintenance needs, support special events, represent the department to the campus community, and prepare operational reports for leadership

Required Qualifications

 

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or six (6) years of related work experience in lieu of a Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

  • Three (3) or more years of related work experience
  • Supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications

 

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • CEFP Preferred

Proposed Salary

 

$75,900

This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.

  • Proven proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office, Google, and/or applications as required for specific position
  • Ability to supervise skilled and unskilled workers

KNOWLEDGE

  • Adhere to University policies and procedures to meet Institutional goals and support University's mission for student success
  • Thorough knowledge of construction practices
  • Specialized training in building trades
  • Basic knowledge of building systems, including structural, electrical, mechanical and plumbing
  • Knowledgeable about heavy equipment and power and hand tools

SKILLS

  • Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
