Painter

Job Summary:

The Rollins College Facilities Services Department is seeking a service-oriented Painter to join their Maintenance team. The Painter will work under the Lead Painter, with and without supervision, perform basic and routine painting, wall repairs, touchups, trim repairs, etc. This is the entry-level to mid-level classification in the painting series facilities, equipment and systems.

Essential Job Functions

  • Painting interiors and exteriors of buildings and structures with brush, roller, or spray equipment.
  • Washing buildings, structures, and sidewalks with high pressure washing equipment.
  • Painting traffic markings on campus roads and parking areas.
  • Painting furniture and equipment in spray booth.
  • Performing incidental and related duties such as plastering and dry wall work, grouting tiled surfaces and walls, and glazing windows.
  • Complete minor trim and carpentry repairs.
  • Assist in event setups including staging and riser setups/tear-downs.


Minimum
Qualifications:


  • High school education.
  • Possess a valid driver's license, or ability to obtain a Florida driver's license within 30 days of accepting the job, and acceptable motor vehicle record.
Preferred
Qualifications:
  • Job-related experience (painting, construction, maintenance).
  • Painting, construction, trade, and/or maintenance schooling, courses, certificates, training, or licenses.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:



  • Knowledge of the standards, methods, materials, and tools of the painting trade.
  • Understanding and compliance with OSHA workplace safety standards.
  • Ability to perform strenuous work, including lifting heavy objects, and the ability to stand or stoop for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to climb and work from both a-frame and extension types of ladders, and able to work from scaffolding and lifts (if/once properly trained).
  • Ability to work outdoors in different weather conditions, such as summer heat, when necessary to complete tasks.
  • Have competent technology skills to learn and use our work ticket system, TDX, to complete tasks and preventative maintenance as assigned, manage workload, and record completion logs.
  • Ability to interpret and follow verbal and written instructions and diagrams.
  • Ability to work under supervision or independently.


Work Schedule:

The Painter is scheduled to work 7.5 hours/day, 37.5 hours per week. Schedules will be discussed during the interview process. Flexible schedule or overtime, including evenings or weekends, may be required to meet business needs.

As a condition of employment in this position, the incumbent will be subject to call in outside of regular hours in order to respond to emergencies, including the preparation and maintenance of College facilities, grounds, systems and services during inclement weather crises. Also, this staff member will be required to carry the Maintenance on-call phone for one-week intervals 1-3 times during the year, including working a corresponding Saturday shift.

Work Environment:

  • Campus-based, front-facing customer service position working in an indoor and outdoor environments.
  • Work requires physical strain including bending, lifting, and standing for long periods of time.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods, bend, handle, climb ladders with harness, lift, and/or carry heavy objects and equipment.
  • Must be punctual and reliable; daily attendance is required.
