The Annual Giving and Advancement Services Associate is responsible for the development and management of a comprehensive, strategic, integrated effort to build the base of individual donors and increase the level of support through annual giving. The Associate will lead year-round cultivation and solicitation programs that support all annual giving programs with a focus on student and recent graduate philanthropy. Responsibilities:

  • Execute annual giving campaigns across digital and traditional channels by developing timelines, goals, messaging, segmentation, production schedules, and outreach tactics. Draft and coordinate donor-centered solicitation content tailored to constituent and donor groups, while partnering with Marketing and Communications and Advancement Services to ensure consistent branding, accurate data, performance tracking, and recommendations for improvement. Support CUonGivingTuesday and PioWeek through coordinated communications, campus collaboration, and donor engagement strategies.
  • Support digital fundraising platforms, including online giving forms, crowdfunding pages, email appeals, mass texting, and two-way texting tools. Develop and deploy multi-touch email and text campaigns aligned with audience segments, campaign goals, and key dates, coordinating setup, coding, segmentation, personalization, tracking, troubleshooting, and reporting. Maintain guidelines and workflows, monitoring campaigns, and analyzing digital performance to improve donor experience, engagement, participation, and conversion.
  • Oversee daily operations of the CU Connect student engagement, solicitation, and stewardship program, including recruitment, hiring, training, scheduling, supervision, and evening management. Develop outreach strategies, scripts, talking points, training materials, call schedules, and ambassador portfolios aligned with campaign priorities and donor segments. Coach student ambassadors through feedback and performance monitoring, track outreach activity, pledges, fulfillment, contact rates, ROI, and progress toward goals, and maintain accurate program data, documentation, policies, procedures, and best practices in partnership with Advancement Services.
  • Develop and implement student philanthropy education initiatives that promote the purpose, impact, and value of giving across the University community. Coordinate the Senior Class Gift Campaign through messaging, materials, digital outreach, stewardship, peer engagement, and results tracking. Partner with Student Life, Admissions, Alumni Engagement, faculty, staff, and student organizations to integrate philanthropy education into campus programs, recruit and support student ambassadors as peer engagement leaders, and share impact summaries and success stories through digital and social media channels.
  • Develop engagement and giving strategies for graduates of the last decade that build connection, participation, and early philanthropic habits. Create targeted communications and digital outreach that resonate with young alumni and connect them to the impact of annual giving. Partner with Alumni Engagement, Student Life, and campus partners to support events, volunteerism, peer outreach, first-time donor strategies, and stewardship, while working with Advancement Services to segment audiences, track engagement and giving activity, and analyze results to inform future strategy.
  • Manage communications, segmented outreach, stewardship, participation tracking, and engagement strategies for ongoing and annual Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign efforts under the direction of the Director of Annual Giving Programs.
  • Maintain annual giving project plans, workflows, documentation, and campaign calendars to ensure timely completion of deliverables and goals. Request and segment data pulls, support campaign coding, monitor progress toward goals, and conduct post-campaign analysis in alignment with Institutional Advancement reporting standards. Coordinate with internal partners, vendors, and participants to support digital and in-person initiatives, and develop stewardship and follow-up communications that reinforce impact, support retention, and encourage continued engagement.
  • Provide support to the Advancement Services team as it relates to data hygiene, internal reporting, and CU Connect portfolio management and pledge processes.

Qualifications: Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 1 year of direct annual giving or nonprofit experience, preferably in higher education
  • Practical knowledge of annual giving operations and an understanding of what it takes to expand donor participation with students and recent graduates
  • Successful track record in the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of a broad-based constituency preferred
  • Volunteer management experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Raisers Edge or other development data systems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and Power Point
  • Possess an ROI-mindset when establishing priorities and use of limited resources.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Candidates must be willing and able to support and advance the University mission.
  • Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, ability, socio-economic background, or job type.
  • Management of CU Connect requires position to have frequent evening or weekend hours during peak campaign periods.
  • Experience in the management and supervision of staff as well as the supervision of volunteers for fundraising purposes.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and aptitude for working with people of different ages and temperaments.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills. High energy level, self-motivated and self-directed to design and complete complex projects.
  • Must also have skills and desire to: multi-task and meet deadlines; be a team player; work collaboratively; understand the principles and techniques relevant to annual and major gift fundraising and; participation in evening and weekend activities as necessary.
  • Eager to play a leadership role in expanding Carroll's donor base and building a best-in-class multi-channel annual giving operation are ideal.
  • Demonstration of integrity, positive attitude, diplomacy, tact, courtesy and a sense of humor.

Compliance:
