The Department of Operations and Analytics in the Carlos Alvarez College of Business at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UT San Antonio) seeks applicants for Open rank tenure-track/tenured position (with a preference for Assistant Professor) in Business Analytics/Operations Management beginning Fall 2027.

Operations and Analytics Department in the Carlos Alvarez College of Business
The Operations and Analytics department is composed of 16 full-time faculty members, including 11 tenured/tenure-track faculty known for their research expertise in the areas of business analytics, operations research, operations management, supply chain management, service operations, and healthcare operations and management. The department has a strong research focus and offers a supportive environment for faculty to publish in the top academic journals in their fields.
The department offers undergraduate degrees in Business Analytics, Operations, and Supply Chain Management, and actuarial science, and a master's degree in business Analytics, and an upcoming Ph.D. in Business Analytics. Tenured research active faculty generally have a 2/2 teaching load. Untenured, tenure-track faculty teach three courses per year.
With over 5,000 students, the Carlos Alvarez College of Business at UT San Antonio is AACSB accredited and offers a variety of bachelor's and master's programs as well as Ph.D. programs in four areas. Position Summary
This position is intended to strengthen the department's capabilities in analytics, operations, and applied decision sciences while supporting key academic programs, including the M.S. and B.B.A. in Business Analytics, and the B.B.A. in Operations and Supply Chain Management, and our upcoming Ph.D.in Business Analytics as well as related programs across the college and university. The position aligns with strategic priorities in business analytics, operations management, artificial intelligence, healthcare operations and analytics, and data-driven decision-making.
The department seeks a faculty member whose research integrates analytical methods with operational decision-making, including areas such as optimization, simulation, machine learning, forecasting, decision-making under uncertainty, supply chain management, and service operations. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests in healthcare operations and analytics who can take advantage of the opportunities created by the recent integration of UT San Antonio and UT Health San Antonio. The successful candidate will be well positioned to develop interdisciplinary collaborations with clinicians, health-system leaders, and researchers across the combined institution, including in areas such as healthcare delivery, workforce and resource management, public health, and clinical decision-making.
The position will support the continued growth of the Business Analytics and Operations and Supply Chain Management programs by helping recruit and mentor students, developing courses that connect analytics with operations and managerial decision-making, and contributing to curricular innovation across undergraduate and graduate programs. Given the college and university's emphasis on increasing externally funded research, the faculty member will be expected to pursue collaborative research opportunities, build partnerships with healthcare organizations, industry, government agencies, and community stakeholders, and contribute to multidisciplinary grant proposals.
Overall, this position will add complementary expertise at the intersection of analytics and operations, strengthen the department's research and teaching portfolio, and expand its ability to address complex operational challenges in healthcare, service systems, supply chains, and other industry settings.
