Under general supervision, the Associate Director of Student Financial Counseling & Outreach is a member of the management team within the Office of Student Financial Services. As a collaborative group, they work closely with the Director and are responsible for the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and communication plans to ensure that Office and University wide goals are successfully met.
The salary is determined in accordance with the University's compensation structure and will be commensurate with the candidates' education and experience, within the assigned salary range for this position. Responsibilities:- Provides day-to-day leadership, mentoring and coordination for the financial counseling and outreach team.
- Provides clear, accurate, and personalized support to help students and families navigate the complex financial aid application processes. Coordinate application follow-up activities for new students, including FAFSA completion, application document completion and verification completion with the intent to assist student with early as possible completion of their financial aid application.
- Serves as the primary point of contact for coordination and troubleshooting of student financial aid concerns. Receives, investigates, and responds to difficult, sensitive problems and student complaints in a professional manner.
- Performs outreach (phone calls, e-mails, text messaging campaigns, events, etc.) to current and prospective students who need assistance navigating their bills, financial aid renewal, refunds, etc.
- Develops and implements events and outreach/retention programming to engage with students, and to help ensure the on-time renewal of financial aid. Work closely with the leaders of the other areas of the CARE team and CARE leadership (Academic Advising and Career Services) to ensure that programming and outreach conducted is uniform, cohesive, integrated, personalized to target audiences, and aligned with institutional objectives.
- Determines staffing and support needs for outreach programs, projects, activities, and in-person/virtual services and identifies and advocates for best practices that enhance students' experiences.
- Conducts Financial Aid 101 workshops, Financial Literacy trainings, High School Financial Aid Nights, and other events throughout the year.
- Oversee the curation and promotion of financial literacy content and training, including (but not limited to) material from commonly used financial aid platforms, such as iGrad. Works closely with EM Communication Specialist to Develop outreach materials including posters, flyers, brochures, and electronic notifications for student outreach activities.
- Help design and develop a non-credit financial literacy course available to students in both a synchronous and asynchronous format. Assesses performance and success of programming and events through surveys. Composes reports as needed and requested.
- Collaborate with campus partners, such as the Center for Student Success and Career Services to extend the reach, impact, and network of support for students and families.

- Creates, manages, and revises the policies and procedures manual for the student University outreach program(s). Provides direct support to the Director to carry out the recommendations, instructions, and initiatives of the Office Financial Services. Serves as a back up to the Associate Director of Financial Aid & Associate Director of Scholarships as a staff lead.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:- Bachelor's degree
- Seven years of related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
- Knowledge of higher education.
- Knowledge of student financial aid processes and related federal and state regulations.
- Oral and written communication skills.
- Organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Ability to solve complex problems.
Preferred Qualifications:- Master's Degree in Higher Education or related area.
- Previous experience working in higher education, including exposure to admissions and financial aid.
