Job Summary:
The Program Specialist 2 reports to the Director of the School of Nursing (SON). The individual is responsible for admissions and recruitment for the School of Nursing. This person collaborates with the Clinical Placement Coordinator to provide oversight of all clinical requirements for students. The preferred candidate for this position possesses knowledge and skills that are unique to nursing education programs and/or clinical settings.
The College of Health Science and Public Health is housed in a state-of-the-art facility located in the downtown University District in Spokane, Washington. Eastern is a regional, comprehensive university with a reputation for teaching excellence, professional growth, and service to the university, profession, and the community.

The salary for this position is $46,836 (minimum) up to $53,952 (maximum). Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on qualifications, education, experience, and skills.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree; or equivalent years of work experience
- Work experience in a busy professional office environment that demonstrates
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and shifting priorities
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to utilize good judgment and discretion
- The ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals and diverse populations.
- Excellent data management skills
- High degree of proficiency with MS Excel, Outlook, Google Sheets, and other applications
- High degree of accuracy with data input
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in management, administration, or health sciences
- Prior experience with clinical setting or education programs
- Knowledge of software programs commonly used in academic settings such as Canvas, EagleNet, Banner, and WebAdMIT.

Proposed Job Duties & Responsibilities
Percent of Time: 40%
Admissions
- Serve on the School of Nursing Admissions and Progression Committee
- Manage the admissions process for the School of Nursing, including checking requirements, updating student status
- Audit student records and assure fulfillment of admission requirements; assist applicants with eligibility information
- Evaluate transcripts for prospective transfer students
- Plan and coordinate Interview Day
- Advise applicants on the application process
- Stay current on admission policies.
- Train new staff and faculty on Holistic Admissions
- Assist Nursing Admission and Progression Committee with application reviews
- Maintain data on nursing applications and acceptance rates
- Other related duties as assigned
Percent of Time: 30%
Recruitment
- Serve as the point of contact for any prospective student interested in the nursing program
- Represent the SON in pre-nursing recruitment and admission events
- Respond to inquiries from prospective students and majors via email, phone, in-person, or campus visitations
- Participate in programs designed to recruit and retain students and majors, such as the summer new student orientations, Neighborfest, Majors Fairs, etc.
- Arrange and participate in information sessions
- Maintain the EWU SON website and social media account(s)
- Other related duties as assigned
Percent of Time: 30%
Administrative support
- Design, manage and maintain student records
- Coordinate new student orientation for incoming students
- Assist with registration as needed
- Monitor progress toward degree completion
- Work with Records & Registration and Operations Manager to schedule courses in CLSS
- Help maintain clinical onboarding database for students
- Assist with coordinating clinical placements
- Provide additional administrative support as directed by the Director of the School of Nursing
