Classification Pay Scale
In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Minimum: $70,304.00 Annually
Maximum $70,304.00 Annually

Job Summary

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Comprehensive understanding of health professions education, learning science principles, and evidence-based approaches to student success across all ten colleges.
• Knowledge of unique health professions education challenges including licensing board examination preparation (COMLEX-USA, USMLE, NBEO, NAVLE, APMLE, NAPLEX, NCLEX, NPTE, PANCE, INBDE), clinical reasoning development, and interprofessional competencies.
• Knowledge of diverse student populations in health professions including professional and graduate students.
• Knowledge of learning assessment methodologies, outcomes measurement, and data-informed continuous improvement practices.
• Knowledge of adult learning theory and evidence-based approaches to student wellness and coping strategies.
• Knowledge of learning disabilities and pertinent Federal and State Statutes and regulations (Section 504 and ADA).
• Knowledge of equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive practices in health professions education.

• Academic Support & Learning Strategies: Applies evidence-based learning strategies and delivers instruction in study strategies, test preparation, time management, clinical reasoning, and exam board preparation to support student success.
• Presentation and Facilitation: Demonstrates strong public speaking and facilitation skills with ability to deliver one-on-one consultations, workshops, seminars, and presentations to diverse audiences.
• Event Coordination & Promotion: Develops presentation slides and evidence-based handouts; manages event logistics and coordinates campus-wide marketing and promotion of academic support programs and workshops.
• Learning Resource Development: Designs, develops, and implements evidence-based learning tools aligned with health professions education best practices; utilizes educational technology platforms to create and deliver learning resources across multiple instructional modalities.
• Assessment & Data Analysis: Collects, analyzes, and interprets student learning outcomes data and program effectiveness metrics; translates findings into actionable continuous improvement initiatives.
• Technology Proficiency: Demonstrates proficiency with learning management systems, educational technology platforms, and digital tools to support learning delivery and assessment.
• Collaboration & Partnership Building: Builds and maintains effective partnerships with faculty, academic advisors, department chairs, and colleagues across institutional departments.

• Ability to provide inclusive, equitable academic support; recognize and address barriers to success for under-represented students in health professions.
• Ability to conduct individual learning assessments and develop personalized learning strategies for students across all ten colleges and degree levels.
• Ability to work autonomously and productively, managing time and competing tasks/projects with diverse deadlines in a high-paced environment.
• Ability to work effectively as a team player with strong collaborative spirit and flexibility to adapt to the LEAD team culture.
• Ability to be self-directed, learn the WesternU culture and academic programs, and understand the nuances of individual colleges and their curriculam.
• Ability to translate understanding of college-specific curricula and programs into meaningful support during student academic counseling sessions.
• Ability to demonstrate a commitment to working in an organization that values and promotes humanism.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education, Learning Sciences, Academic Advising, Health Professions Education, Psychology, or related field.

• Minimum two years of experience working within higher education (college/university setting).
• Demonstrated expertise in providing academic support services to students and demonstrated effectiveness in working with diverse cohorts.
• Extensive experience with presentation and workshop facilitation.

Preferred Qualifications

• Doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, OTD or equivalent) in Education, Learning Sciences, Health Professions Education, Psychology, or related field.
  
  

• Three or more years of professional experience in academic support, or teaching in health professions education.
• Demonstrates lifelong learning, adaptability and high energy, with the ability to build positive connections with students and a strong passion for higher education and humanism.
• Experience supporting students preparing for licensing board examinations (COMLEX-USA, USMLE, NBEO, NAVLE, etc.).
• Demonstrated experience with program development, assessment and outcomes evaluation in higher education or health professions training.
• Background or experience in health professions (healthcare degree, clinical experience, etc.).
• Experience teaching or providing support in interprofessional education settings.
