Staff Posting Details Appointment: Regular, part-time (0.6 FTE) position. 9 month employee.
Work Location: This position is based in Tacoma, WA, and is an on-campus role only.

Position Summary: The SAA Exam Proctor supports the mission and objectives of SAA and the University of Puget Sound by working directly with students, faculty, and campus departments to coordinate all aspects of exam proctoring, security and student experience.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities: - Coordinate the proctoring of exams for students with disabilities
- Prepare testing schedules, proctoring room, and materials before scheduled exams
- Check students in and verify exam details (i.e. approved accommodations, faculty instructions, etc)
- Monitor students during exams to ensure academic integrity and compliance with testing procedures
- Create a calm, welcoming, and accessible testing environment by staying attuned to students' emotional needs and responding with care when a student shows signs of stress or difficulty
- Facilitate student questions during exams by contacting the professor or appropriate faculty member, following SAA procedures, and documenting any clarification or response provided
- Collect, organize, scan, upload, or return completed exams according to SAA procedures
- Assist with daily testing operations, including room setup, resetting spaces, filing, organizing materials, and supporting smooth testing flow
- Serve as a communication point between students and faculty during exams when students have questions about exam instructions, content, or clarification needs
- Maintain confidentiality of student records, disability-related information, accommodations, and exam materials
- Follow university policies, FERPA expectations, SAA procedures, and faculty exam instructions
- Document and report testing irregularities, concerns, technology issues, or suspected academic integrity violations
- Oversee all aspects of SAA Testing Center security
- Use Accommodate, Google Sheets, calendars, shared drives, or other office systems to track testing information and exam status
- Train all exam support staff
- Maintain and monitor all exam accommodation software, including Kindles, MP3s, text to speech,
speech to text, and security software for students taking exams on computers - Streamline the SAA Exam Proctoring Center operations, including working with Excel formulas to do midterm and final exam volume projections
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position
- Other duties as needed
Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years experience working in testing, education, student services, administrative or customer service settings.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office, Google Suite, email, calendars, spreadsheets and other standard office technology.
- Adaptable, willing and eager to learning new software and hardware systems.
- Ability to create a welcoming, calm and respectful testing environment.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions, testing procedures, faculty exam directions, and approved accommodation plans.
- Ability to monitor testing spaces while remaining respectful of student privacy and accommodations.
- Ability to remain professional, patient, and calm in a testing environment.
- Reliability and punctuality, especially during scheduled testing blocks and high-volume exam periods.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to establish appropriate boundaries and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
- Strong commitment to equal access, inclusion and diversity.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty and staff.
- Ability to work as part of a team.

- Ability to respond appropriately to student concerns, technology issues or unexpected testing disruptions.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude and professional demeanor, especially in stressful situations.
- Detail-oriented, with strong attention to accuracy and the ability to track exam times, testing materials, student accommodations, faculty instructions and documentation.
- Experience with, or willingness to learn about, adaptive technology and database user interfaces.
- Ability to respectfully work, communicate and provide leadership within a diverse campus community.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 1 year of experience working with college-level students, faculty and/or campus department

The anticipated range for this position is $20.65 to $21.90. Decisions about starting salaries are made based on the extent and relatedness of the candidate's education and experience and on internal equity and market considerations.
