  • Full-time, continuing position
  • Position available as Lecturer (Level B, $111,031 - $131,335 per annum) or Senior Lecturer (Level C, $135,388 – $155,696 per annum) plus 17% superannuation applies

Role Summary  

Manage and deliver teaching and research in Aerospace Engineering, building capability across dynamics, modelling and computation, numerical and experimental aerodynamics, and clean energy. Create high-impact, interdisciplinary research programs in collaboration with scientists, engineers and industry partners, while mentoring students and contributing to academic leadership.

The School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (EME) is seeking an outstanding researcher and educator in Aerospace Engineering to join our academic team. This continuing opportunity offers the chance to contribute to internationally recognised research, deliver high-quality teaching, and help shape the future of aerospace engineering education and innovation.

We are looking for an accomplished academic with expertise in Aerospace Engineering, a strong research track record, and a passion for student learning. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching and research across areas such as dynamics, modelling and computation, numerical and experimental aerodynamics, clean energy technologies, and related disciplines.

Working within a highly interdisciplinary research environment, you will collaborate with scientists, engineers, industry partners, and government stakeholders to address complex challenges and deliver meaningful real-world impact. You will also contribute to the ongoing success and reputation of our engineering programs through research excellence, student engagement, and external partnerships.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Experience 

To join our community and thrive in this role, you will likely have the following skills and experience: 

Qualifications

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent, with expertise in the aerospace engineering research area.

Level B you will need

  • Demonstrated research ability that supports the School's research strengths in experimental, design, and numerical modelling of next-generation aerospace. technologies, fluid processes in aerospace applications and clean energy processes.
  • Record of research achievements as evidenced by publications in high-quality refereed journals or conference proceedings.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach effectively using evidence-based pedagogy that promotes student engagement.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English with both students and staff.
  • Ability to carry out administrative duties, as directed by the Head of School, effectively and efficiently. 

Level C you will need

  • Substantial record of research achievements as evidenced by publications in high-quality refereed journals or conference proceedings.
  • Demonstrated ability to win significant research funding. 
  • Substantial record of success in effective teaching using evidence-based pedagogy that promotes student engagement and as lecturer/course coordinator.
  • Record of successful curriculum development or pedagogical innovation. 
  • Demonstrated ability to attract and supervise postgraduate students.
