COORDINATOR / GRAPHIC DESIGN

Position Summary:

The Graphic Design Coordinator communicates the CMU College of Business Administration (CBA) story through strategic, audience-focused visual design across digital and print platforms. This role blends design execution with problem-solving, collaboration, and content understanding to create effective, on-brand communications that support college priorities.


Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual communication or a related field, or a combination of education and relevant experience that equates to four years.
One year of design experience, including paid internships, student employment, or freelance work.
Demonstrated experience designing for both digital and print, including file preparation for production.
Strong portfolio demonstrating layout, typography, and visual communication across digital and print formats.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
Strong understanding of visual communication and audience-focused design.
Creative problem-solving skills with demonstrated attention to brand standards and communication goals.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while balancing quality and efficiency.
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with a proactive, solutions-oriented approach and consistent follow-through.
Ability to be self-directed and resourceful, troubleshoot challenges, and move work forward independently.
Detail-oriented, with a commitment to accuracy and polished final deliverables


Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with content management systems and basic web updates.
Demonstrated experience supporting multimedia storytelling efforts, including social media, photography or video projects.
Demonstrated experience developing templates, workflows or standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support scalable design and production processes.
Demonstrated experience mentoring or overseeing student employees, interns, or collaborative team projects.
Demonstrated understanding of higher education branding, communications, or marketing environments.


Duties & Responsibilities:

Serves as the lead graphic designer responsible for the development and production of visual communications across digital and print platforms.
Designs and produces a wide range of visual communications, including logos, brochures, reports, print and digital signage, web graphics, multi-page publications, and other digital and print assets.
Collaborates with internal partners and university stakeholders to understand project goals, align messaging, and translate content into effective visual communication.
Develops and maintains design templates and systems that allow departments to create consistent, on-brand materials while improving efficiency.
Contributes to the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and workflows to support a more process-driven and scalable approach to design and production.
Manages projects from concept through completion, including ideation, design, revisions and final delivery, while balancing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Serves as the print production lead, coordinating with vendors, managing estimates, preparing files and ensuring quality control through final production.
Manages and updates the CBA website, ensuring content is accurate, accessible and aligned with brand standards.
Oversees and mentors student design employees, providing guidance on technical skills and professional expectations.
Advises internal partners on CMU brand standards and visual communication best practices.
Supports multimedia storytelling efforts, including photo, video, and social media projects as needed.
Troubleshoots design and production challenges independently while balancing quality, efficiency, and project deadlines.
Performs other duties as assigned.
