Position Title Human Resources Coordinator
Job Description
The Human Resources Coordinator supports the daily operations of the Office of Human Resources. This role handles initial employee inquiries, maintains all university employee personnel files, updates databases, and handles sensitive information with confidentiality. The Coordinator is the first point of contact for the office, providing excellent customer service to faculty, staff, student employees and applicants. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, professional and interested in developing a career in higher education human resources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Maintains accurate employee files and human resources databases in compliance with university policies and confidentiality standards.
  • Processes employment forms, payroll related paperwork, completes employment verifications and I-9 verifications through E-verify.
  • Works closely with other HR professionals; assisting with processes such as: student employment, employee recruitment, on-boarding and benefit enrollment.
  • Submits workers compensation reports to the Office of Administration; contacting medical facilities for initial appointments and corresponding with injured employee and supervisor as needed.
  • Monitors office expenditures, reconciles departmental budgets, and submits procurement card receipts.
  • Helps organize and facilitate events such as wellness, professional development, employee recognition, student employment, and onboarding. May participate in campus events such as summer griffon orientation.
  • Responds to routine HR inquires from faculty, staff and student employees.
  • Prepares reports, spreadsheets, and HR correspondence as needed.
  • Supports employee engagement and campus wellness programs.
  • Ensures compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations as well as university policies and procedures.
  • Schedule meetings and maintain calendars as requested by Director of Human Resources.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Familiarity with employment laws and regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel)
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Strong customer service skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
 
Required Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must have three (3) years of administrative support or related experience in Human Resources.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field
  • Experience working in a higher education environment
Physical Demands
  • Required to use close vision and be able to focus.
  • Regularly required to talk and hear; frequently required to sit, stand, and bend at the knee and waist, and walk.
  • Must be able to have repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement to type and work on computer.
  • Must have finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination to work on computer, telephone, and related office equipment.

  • Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.

Monday – Friday; 8:00am – 4:30pm
