Physical Therapy education at Simmons dates back over 50 years. The program employs a problem-based, self-directed approach to learning, using case studies to integrate science and clinical knowledge with psychosocial, ethical, and behavioral aspects of patient care. Our faculty are advancing the field through research and creating exciting opportunities for students to engage in knowledge-building and discovery. Job SummaryThe DPT program at Simmons University is seeking applicants for a full-time Boston-based 12-month contract faculty position to begin on August 1st, 2026. Primary ResponsibilitiesThe faculty member will be able to teach courses in-line with their research and clinical expertise. Desirable areas are neurological physical therapy, therapeutic modalities, orthotics and prosthetics. and/or assist in systems-based laboratory or tutorials with a preference toward inpatient expertise. Potential courses may include Frameworks for Neurological Physical Therapy I and II, Concepts and Skills I and II, Frameworks for Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Physical Therapy, and Prosthetics and Orthotics. The faculty member is expected to advise and mentor graduate students, participate in curriculum development, and actively serve the Simmons community. QualificationsSimmons DPT program seeks candidates with a demonstrated commitment to professional, clinical, and academic excellence. Previous teaching at the graduate level is preferable; applicants seeking to begin a career in higher education should also consider this opportunity.
- A terminal academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, ScD, etc.) is preferred;
- A doctoral degree in physical therapy (DPT) or a related field is required;
- Active, unrestricted license to practice physical therapy in any United States jurisdiction;
- Evidence of excellence in professional practice (ABPTS specialty certification is desirable) and a high potential for excellence in teaching and service;
- At least 5 years of applicable clinical experience for Assistant Professor of Practice;
- At least 10 years of applicable clinical experience for Associate Professor of Practice;
- Physical therapy teaching experience preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to collegiality when interacting with others within the university community.
