Job Description

The Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at the University of Florida (UF) College of Medicine invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the ranks of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor in Virology. Our faculty includes some of the brightest and most innovative scholars spanning the virology disciplines. The Department continues a major expansion of the faculty as part of a 5-year strategic plan (see accompanying ad for geneticist). UF has 70 virology research laboratories situated across seven colleges and institutes that are supported by state-of-the-art resources and centers in immunology. vector biology, metabolomics, and oncogenesis. UF is also developing a world-class artificial intelligence (AI) research infrastructure to support investigators. Research spans many virus families, with existing strengths in arboviruses, tumor viruses, polymicrobial interactions, and neurovirology. We are particularly interested in recruiting candidates who will build a research program that complements these existing strengths.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to develop or have created a vibrant, externally funded research program, participate in graduate-level teaching, and recruit and mentor outstanding trainees.

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Applicants should hold a PhD, MD or MD/PhD in the biomedical sciences or a related field of study.
