Additional Information: This position will remain open until filled. Work Hours: Standard College hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm; Additional hours, including evening and weekend hours, may be needed to meet the needs of the department.
General Summary: Performs a variety of general secretarial duties for a major campus activity or department.
Requirements:
Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED and some secretarial experience gained through previous job related training or education.
Certifications/Licensures: N/A.
Skills/Abilities Requirements: Ability to multitask while effectively communicating CCAC policy and procedures to students and their Must be able to operate various office equipment, including a personal computer, and appropriate College software packages or equivalent. Ability to travel to perform work duties at any campus or center location within the CCAC system. Should possess good organizational, customer service, communication, interpersonal and clerical skills. Detail oriented, ability to multi-task meet deadlines and be a team player. Required to have regular and timely attendance.
Physical Requirements, If Applicable: Must be able to work in a general office environment with the ability to sit for at least 2 hours without interruption. Ability to communicate effectively and follow written and oral instructions.
Duties:
1. Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
2. Prepares reports, correspondence and forms including exams, syllabi, schedules, class materials and minutes of meetings.
3. Coordinates & organizes activities & transportation.
4. Creates and distributes promotional materials such as flyers, emails and letters.
5. Screens phone calls; receives and directs visitors; receives sorts and delivers mail.
6. Serves as point of contact for the unit.
7. Establishes and maintains various files, records and logs.
8. Updates student information.
9. Prepares materials for bulk mailings.
10. Responds to inquiries tactfully and courteously and answer questions and provide information in person and by telephone.
11. May be required to take and transcribe oral dictation; records and maintains budgetary information; schedules rooms and facilities; maintains and processes payroll forms and records; assigns work to work-study students; trains newly hired employees; maintains and processes orders for supplies, operates switchboard and assists with registration.
12. Perform all duties in accordance with applicable laws, collective bargaining agreements, board policies and administrative regulations and directives.
13. Performs other clerical duties related to specific/unique needs of the department.
14. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

In 1963, Pennsylvania passed the Community College Act, providing the legal framework for the establishment of community colleges in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Allegheny County Board of School Directors voted to ask Allegheny County to be the local sponsor, and a plan was submitted to the state. In May 1965, the "People's Bond Issue," requesting Allegheny County residents to approve funding for a community college, passed with 66% of the vote. Six months later, the Pennsylvania State Board of Education unanimously approved Allegheny County's application for the founding of a community college.
In December 1965, the first 15-member college board of trustees was sworn into office. The college's first president was named; the first two college locations, CCAC-Boyce Campus in Monroeville and CCAC-Allegheny Campus on Pittsburgh's North Shore, were chosen; and vice presidents were hired for those campuses. In September 1966, classes began at the new Community College of Allegheny County with 59 full- and 16 part-time faculty members serving 1,505 students.
CCAC-South Campus was established in 1967, followed by CCAC-North Campus in 1972. There are three neighborhood centers: Braddock Hills, Homewood-Brushton and West Hills Center in Oakdale. The college also maintains an ever-growing online learning presence.
Today, CCAC offers more than 130 programs of study across ten diverse career paths. CCAC's quality programs have enabled students to transfer credits to more than 500 different colleges and universities to continue their education. The college supports regional workforce needs with accessible instruction available day, evening, weekend and online in Allegheny County and beyond. Courses are taught using different modalities, including in-person (face-to-face), online, remote (via Zoom) and hybrid, with with a focus on enabling students to enter or reenter the workforce in two years or less.
