ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE: Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $5,540 per month
CSU CLASSIFICATION SALARY RANGE: $5,540 - $7,893
PAY BASIS: Monthly

POSITION PURPOSE: Under general direction of the Associate Athletics Director for Academics, the Athletics Academic Advising Coordinator provides complex, independent academic advisement and guidance to NCAA Division I student-athletes and serves as the lead for academic support operations within the Kegley Center for Student Success.
The position provides lead direction to advising staff, coordinates advising operations, develops procedures and training to ensure compliance and consistency, and collaborates with campus and Athletics partners to implement initiatives that promote retention, eligibility, and timely graduation.
In addition, the incumbent independently advises student-athletes on multifaceted academic, eligibility, and progress-toward-degree matters requiring interpretation of University policy, NCAA Division I regulations, and conference rules. Advisement frequently involves sensitive or high-risk academic situations requiring the application of counseling techniques, sound judgment, and integrative problem-solving across academic departments and student support services.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE - Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including or supplemented by upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related and three (3) years of progressively responsible professional student services work. A master's degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of experience. A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling or guidance may be substituted for the three years of experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional career or personal counseling.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
SCREENING: Only those applicants possessing experience most directly related to the immediate needs of the office will be invited to appear before a Qualifications Appraisal Board for the purpose of appraising training, experience, and interest in the position.
BACKGROUND CHECK: Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
