Position Summary
The University of Illinois Chicago's College of Business Administration invites applications for full-time non-tenure system faculty position(s) in the Department of Information and Decision Sciences, for a start no later than August 2026. Of particular interest are candidates with a background in areas related to information systems and technology, preferably in two or more of the following broadly defined categories of expertise: (1) artificial intelligence in business, (2) application development, enterprise IT, and modern software systems, (3) cybersecurity, and (4) database management systems. We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate a background of effective teaching at all levels of the undergraduate and graduate curriculum, from the introductory-level undergraduate course in Management Information Systems (MIS) to advanced courses in our graduate MIS curriculum. The position will come with potential opportunities for leadership in the longer term, including experience directing undergraduate and graduate programs, although it is not a requirement.
In the short-term, we seek candidates who will help revitalize the MIS curriculum drawing on the areas of expertise broadly defined above, and who will teach courses in foundational MIS, cloud-computing systems, as well as business database technologies. Our basic MIS curriculum focuses on understanding and applying information technology to address business challenges and bolster organizational operations, with a strong emphasis on practical training in computer-driven productivity tools.
Non-tenure system faculty in the College of Business teach courses to undergraduate and/or graduate students in their field of expertise and provide service to the department, college, and/or campus. Non-tenure system faculty at the rank of Clinical/Teaching Assistant Professor, Clinical/Teaching Associate Professor and Clinical/Teaching Professor make intellectual contributions to their discipline through activities that translate disciplinary scholarship to a professional audience and, especially, through innovations in teaching and experiential learning. The Department of Information and Decision Sciences offers undergraduate, MS, and PhD programs in information systems, business analytics and operations management. Programs include industry-based capstone project experience for students. The department seeks candidates dedicated to teaching and promoting student success. Effective teaching, incorporating current methods, tools and industry practices, and engaging with industry are key to this role.
