Appointment: Regular, part-time (0.83 FTE) position. Full-time schedule during the academic year, transitions to part-time during the summer.

Work Location:
This position is based in Tacoma, WA. This is an on-campus role only.

Position Summary: The Manager of Accommodation and Testing serves as an interactive member of the Office of Student Accessibility and Accommodation (SAA) to oversee the daily work flow of the office including the Accommodate Database, communicating with prospective students and families, student registration, accommodation training and oversight of testing center operations.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:


  • Manage complex daily operations
  • Manage proprietary database, data collection and the confidential handling of student information
    • Manage Accommodate Data Base, meet with Symplicity representatives to discuss and fix Accommodate design and operational problems
    • Maintain student records and files in Accommodate
    • Create statistical reports
    • Maintain the SAA timeline and office procedures
    • Manage Departmental Social Media accounts
  • Act as Accessible Technology Expert
    • Review, investigate and manage new and existing technologies for use by students and faculty
    • Primary contact for students, families and staff regarding accessible technology
    • Design and implement student and staff training on accessible technology resources
      • Train students on accessing their Book Share account, downloading books, and downloading software to read smart PDFs
      • Train students on Livescribe pens and track the borrowing of pens
  • Create informational and instructional materials for students, parents, faculty and the campus community
  • Communicate with students to initiate SAA registration
  • Manage a caseload of students throughout the accommodations process, including developing strategic plans and meeting with students to provide consultation on eligibility and accommodations; including students with temporary disabilities
    • Determine disability accommodations for students with temporary disabilities
  • Oversight of SAA testing center, direct oversight of testing center coordinator
    • Provide backup for the Exam Proctoring center for lunch breaks, between 4:40 PM and 5:00 PM, during high volume
    • Final Exam Proctor
    • Oversee and manage all details related to the implementation of Final Exams each semester
    • Determine and resolve daily overflow problems in SAA testing center
    • Establish relationship and collaborate with Academic Advising to borrow space
  • Monitor the reception area traffic and direct inquiries to the appropriate staff member
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position
  • Works as part of a team, taking on roles as needed to support efficient office operations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • SAA Testing Center/Testing Center Coordinator

  • Manage P-Card assigned
  • P-Card reconcile


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, able to prioritize tasks in fast-paced environments working both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, managing competing priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication abilities for effective interaction with students, faculty, professional staff and parents.
  • Proven track record of delivering exceptional customer service to diverse groups
  • Proficient in computer systems, word processing software and maintaining professional calendar
  • Experienced in business operations, task management and adherence to policies within student services
  • Ability to propose innovative approaches, willingly share knowledge and collaborate
  • Experience in a diverse work environment with an appreciation of the value of diversity
  • Ability to collaborate with others to create an inclusive academic environment
  • Ability to remain calm and focused when addressing time-sensitive challenges
  • Proven ability to work within a culture of confidentiality, sound judgement and ability to remain a neutral party


Qualifications:



Required:

  • Bachelor's degree, plus 1-2 years of relevant administrative experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills have been acquired
  • Ability to respectfully work, communicate and provide leadership within a diverse campus community


Preferred:

  • Experience or education in the areas of Education, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or a related field


Compensation and Benefits:
The anticipated range for this position is $23.05 to $24.50. Decisions about starting salaries are made based on the extent and relatedness of the candidate's education and experience and on internal equity and market considerations.

-Positions that work less than .75 FTE (1,560 hours per year) do not qualify for long-term disability or education benefits.
-Positions that work less than .50 FTE (1,040 hours per year) will accrue paid sick leave but are not eligible for additional benefits.
-Temporary positions that work at least .50 FTE (1,040 hours per year) will be eligible for benefits.

This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
