
The Family Development Center is looking to hire an Extra Help Cook. This position assists current staff with cooking and serving all meals per a specified menu and time schedule, maintains cleaning and sanitizing requirements, ensures kitchen inventories, and follows all compliance regulations of the State Board of Health regulations, CACFP guidelines, State of Illinois Child Care Regulations and Early Head Start regulations.
1. Cook and serve all meals per specified menu and time schedule
2. Prepare PM snack and AM snack for evening and next morning, prior to leaving for the day
3. Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dishes after all meals and snacks
4. Purchase necessary food items for snack and meal preparation
5. Wash and sterilize bottles and nipples for infants
6. Maintain inventory of kitchen supplies and food items.
7. Attends required/requested CACFP, State Board of Health and/or Early Head Start training programs.
8. Assures all procedures are in compliance with the State Board of Health regulations, CACFP guidelines, State of Illinois Child Care Regulations and Early Head Start regulations.
9. Completes required CACFP, State Board of Health and/or Early Head Start paperwork in a timely manner.
10. In coordination with supervisor and Administrative Coordinator, order and/or purchase food from grocery store as needed.
11. Supervise Culinary Worker II; assign and review Culinary Worker’s II work; train and evaluate Culinary Worker II.
12. Comply with regulatory health requirements, including: a pre-employment physical with lift test, proof of MMR and DTAP immunization, initial TB test and annual physical exam.
13. Attend all meetings and training as required.
14. Adhere to all plans, policies and procedures of Governors State University, Family Development Center and Early Head Start.
15. Attend other related meetings and training as requested.
16. Proactive Leader - Works well without close supervision and demonstrates initiative.
17. Assists with questions and problems courteously and promptly
High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
