Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Provide strategic and operational leadership for Tutoring Services within the Tutoring and Academic Support Center (TASC). Direct the delivery, assessment, and continuous improvement of comprehensive tutoring programs that advance student success, persistence, and academic achievement while ensuring alignment with divisional priorities. Oversee staffing, budget administration, program development, and resource allocation. Serve as a key member of the TASC leadership team, collaborating with academic partners and advising the Director on program strategy, operational needs, and service enhancements.
Manage all Tutoring Services operations to include hiring, training, and supervising full-time staff (i.e. Program Specialist, STEM Instructional Specialist, and Department Administrative Assistant).Advance institutional goals related to student persistence, course success, and retention through high-quality academic support services.Initiate the application and hiring recommendation process and hire, supervise, and evaluate the student/peer and non-teaching faculty professional tutors each semester.Lead data analysis efforts in Tutoring Services to examine student utilization and adjust services in response to findings as needed.Oversee the administration and maintenance of Tutoring Services' scheduling software systems to ensure data and reports pulled are targeted and accurate. Maintain working knowledge of the scheduling and tracking software program.Oversee a comprehensive new tutor training program each semester appropriate to the tutor's level of education and experience while keeping abreast of learning theory and best practices in tutoring.Initiate ongoing staff professional development and training for non-teaching faculty professional tutors and Classified staff in Tutoring Services.Ensure effective operational coverage for Tutoring Services, establishing processes that support consistent service delivery.Serve as a key member of the TASC Leadership team. In that role, partner with other members of the team to collaboratively develop programming that encompasses all TASC service offerings.Communicate Tutoring Services program content and format to faculty and deans. Collaborate with faculty to provide academic assistance in support of their course curricula and program/discipline.Serve on program/discipline and college committees as needed, promoting and clarifying Tutoring Services offerings where appropriate.Collaborate and connect tutors with the TASC Accommodations Support staff to ensure students with accommodations are receiving designated services. In consultation with TASC Accommodations Support staff, provide guidance to tutors who are struggling to effectively communicate/provide academic support to students with learning/behavioral issues.Oversee and modify (when necessary) the various tutoring delivery formats, including in-person and online appointments, drop-in sessions, guided study groups, and in-class assistance, and student success workshops.Foster strong working relationships with college partners including faculty, Student Affairs and Academic Affairs administration, and division offices.Provide Tutoring Services data in support of the TASC annual report each year. At least annually, administer a survey to students and faculty to evaluate user satisfaction and compile results to assess the efficacy of the academic support services offered.Collaborate with TASC Leadership and outreach staff to market, Tutoring Services to faculty, students and the college community.Collaborate with the Tutoring Services and TASC Supervisor on approval and tracking of full-time and part-time staff payroll, as well as participation in the Perkins Grant program.Administer the Tutoring Services budget and exercise decision-making authority over resource allocation in alignment with departmental priorities.Provide departmental leadership in the Director's absence, exercising delegated authority as appropriate.Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:- Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field required.
- Master's Degree in Education or related field preferred.
- Experience
- Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience required, with demonstrated responsibility for staff oversight, performance management, and operational leadership.
- Managerial experience in a higher education setting preferred, particularly within academic support, student services, or related administrative environments.
- Experience working with students with accommodations and adult learners in a higher education setting preferred, with demonstrated understanding of inclusive practices and accessibility requirements.
- Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication required, including the ability to communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, and administrators.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English required.
- Experience in academic support or learning assistance services and familiarity with tutoring program software preferred.
- Teaching, training, or professional development experience preferred, particularly in support of staff or peer educators.
Working Conditions:Personal computer, MS Office software and other database applications, copier, printer, scanner.May be required to work occasional evening/weekend hours.Occasional travel to off-campus sites required.

Hiring Range:12 Salary Starting salary beginning at $75,131, based on education and experience.
