Job Summary

The Psychology Department at Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) seeks an Assistant Professor with a Clinical Psychology focus beginning August 1, 2027. Priority reviews of candidates will begin on November 6, but the position will remain open and accepting applications until filled.

Successful candidates will be expected to teach a 4/4 load of lower- and upper-division courses. Applicants should show a strong interest in teaching courses in statistics, and research methods to support over 900 psychology majors. Applicants should demonstrate significant innovation in teaching and commitment to student success. GGC emphasizes a student-centered learning environment.

In accordance with Board of Regents policy concerning GGC faculty, successful assistant-professors will be eligible to receive a three-year renewable appointment. For more information about our college, please visit our website at www.ggc.edu.

Responsibilities

Essential Function 1 -
Developing course curricula, including the syllabus, lesson plans, and graded assignments, in accordance with the requirements of the upper division program and in consultation with the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs

Essential Function 2 -
Evaluating students to measure their progress in achieving institutional and course goals

Essential Function 3 -
Serving on department and college-wide committees

Essential Function 4 -
Engaging with students on campus through extracurricular activities

Essential Function 5 -
Formal advising of students regarding course planning and career readiness. Mentoring students each semester

Required Qualifications

Applicants should hold a Doctoral degree in the discipline (or a closely related field) before August 1, 2027, with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credit hours (or 30 quarter credits) within the discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-year college level teaching experience
  • Experience within a clinical setting
  • Sustained professional engagement that demonstrates relevance and currency in the field of teaching
  • Ability to teach a variety of courses that support the Psychology Major: clinical classes including Abnormal, Introduction to Psychology, Statistics and Research Methods
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide range of students, both majors and non-majors
  • Demonstrated commitment or experience in undergraduate teaching, student advising, and research mentorship
