Job Summary

Georgia Gwinnett College (GGC) invites applicants for an Assistant Professor of Physics to join the Physics and Pre-Engineering Department, beginning August 1, 2027.


Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate physics and introductory engineering courses and laboratories, advising and mentoring students, engaging in scholarly and professional activities that contribute to continued professional growth, participating in departmental and institutional service, and performing other faculty duties as assigned.


GGC is an institution that values innovative teaching, scholarship, advising, and mentoring. Advising and mentoring are expected of all faculty. The Physics and Pre-Engineering Department is interested in candidates with experience working with students from a broad range of backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access to higher education for all students. Ability to teach introductory engineering courses and laboratories will be a plus but not required.

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field by the time of appointment
  • Experience teaching undergraduate physics courses and laboratories
  • Demonstrated commitment to advising, mentoring, and supporting undergraduate students
  • Demonstrated potential for scholarly activity and professional engagement
  • Ability to engage undergraduate students in scholarly, research, laboratory, and project-based activities
