Lecturer in Higher Education

Job Description

 

The Department of Educational Studies (www.edst.purdue.edu) at Purdue University invites applications for a 9-month Continuing Lecturer position in Higher Education to begin as early as January 2027.  In this position, the faculty member will be expected to teach a 4/4 load of courses/administrative duties in our graduate programs, the M.S.Ed in Higher Education Systems, Policy & Leadership and the Ph.D. in Higher Education. Administrative duties may include coordination of the master’s program and/or an opportunity to facilitate the program’s study abroad programming.  In addition, the faculty member will be expected to contribute to faculty service requirements.

Applicant documents should demonstrate that they meet the following:

Required Qualifications

  • Hold a Ph.D./ED.D. degree in higher education, educational leadership and policy, or a closely related field
  • Experience working in higher education settings (both within institutions and/or a related field: i.e., government agency), and
  • Experience in teaching graduate-level courses (in-person and/or online).

Preferred and Required Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Hold a Ph.D./ED.D. degree in higher education, educational leadership and policy, or a closely related field
  • Experience working in higher education settings (both within institutions and/or a related field: i.e., government agency), and
  • Experience in teaching graduate-level courses (in-person and/or online).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience mentoring graduate students
  • Expertise in multiple areas of higher education content (e.g., economics and finance, organizational theory, assessment & evaluation, community engagement, HE law)
  • A record of conducting and publishing research in the field of higher education
  • Experience in program development and curriculum design related to the field of higher education
  • Study abroad/global experience
