Classification Pay Scale In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Job Summary Reporting to the Senior Director of Advancement Communications, the Multimedia Manager will transform stories of student achievement, donor generosity, and community impact into compelling visual experiences that deepen connection and inspire philanthropic support.
From campaign initiatives and donor publications to videos, digital content, presentations, and event materials, this role ensures that advancement communications are visually distinctive, emotionally engaging, and represent WesternU in the most thoughtful way to donors.
Serving as the University Advancement's visual designer, this position develops integrated creative concepts and produces high-quality work across print, digital, video, photography, motion graphics, presentations, social media, environmental graphics, and events. They will oversee projects from initial concept through final production, ensuring that deliverables meet strategic objectives, maintain brand consistency, and reflect best practices in accessibility and audience-centered design.
This is a hands-on creative role for an experienced designer who can help develop a strong visual design standard and carry ideas from initial concept through production and delivery.

Knowledge of:
- Principles and best practices of graphic design, typography, composition, color theory, visual hierarchy, and visual communication.
- User experience (UX) design, web design, HTML/CSS, digital asset management systems, and content management systems.
- Accessible and inclusive design standards and their application across print, digital, and multimedia platforms.
- Brand management principles and the development of cohesive visual identities.
- Ethical, privacy, quality, and brand considerations related to the use of artificial intelligence-assisted creative tools.
- Advancement, fundraising, healthcare, higher education, or other mission-driven organizational environments and communications practices.
Skill in:
- Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects, as well as Canva.
- Developing compelling visual concepts and design solutions that communicate complex messages clearly and effectively.
- Creating graphic design, multimedia, video, motion graphics, photography, and other visual storytelling assets.
- Applying advanced typography, composition, imagery, motion, and color techniques to produce high-quality creative work.
- Utilizing project management, workflow management, and collaborative design tools to coordinate projects and ensure timely delivery.
- Translating stakeholder objectives into effective visual communication strategies and creative solutions.
- Maintaining visual consistency while adapting creative approaches across multiple audiences, channels, and platforms.
Ability to:

Required Qualifications Required Education
Bachelor's degree in graphic design, multimedia design, visual communications, digital media, animation, film, or a related field.
Experience or Training
Experience: Five or more years of professional design experience, including responsibility for creative direction, multimedia production, or team leadership. A strong portfolio demonstrating sophisticated visual design, multimedia storytelling, brand development, and integrated campaign work.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in higher education, advancement/fundraising, healthcare or nonprofit communications, donor-facing campaigns, and integrated multimedia communications

Essential Job Duties Advancement Specific Creative Design
- Establish and maintain the creative direction for University Advancement's fundraising, donor stewardship, and event communications.
- Develop original visual concepts, campaign identities, design systems, and creative treatments that bring advancement priorities to life.
- Translate communications briefs, institutional messages, and audience insights into clear, engaging visual solutions.
- Lead the design of high-visibility projects, including comprehensive campaign materials, fundraising appeals, donor proposals, stewardship reports, event experiences, and executive presentations.
- Manage creative projects from intake and scoping through concept development, stakeholder review, production, and final delivery.
- Develop project timelines, production schedules, creative briefs, specifications, and approval processes.
Multimedia Content Creation
- Design and produce integrated creative assets across print, digital, web, email, social media, video, presentations, and environmental applications.
- Lead multimedia projects from concept through delivery, including visual development, storyboarding, production planning, editing, motion design, and post-production.
- Create and direct videos that highlight donor impact, student experiences, stories, faculty achievements, research, and institutional priorities.
- Produce motion graphics, animations, digital advertisements, social content, and other short-form visual assets.
- Plan and art-direct photography and video shoots, including shot lists, visual treatments, talent coordination, location planning, and image selection.
- Retouch photography, edit video, prepare graphics, and optimize multimedia assets for different platforms and audiences.
- Design charts, infographics, illustrations, and other data visualizations that make complex information clear and engaging.
Campaign, Publication & Event Design
- Create cohesive visual identities and asset systems for fundraising campaigns, giving initiatives, donor recognition, and special events.
- Design print and digital publications, including impact reports, newsletters, invitations, brochures, case statements, proposals, campaign collateral, and the annual report.
- Develop event visuals such as environmental graphics, signage, digital displays, stage graphics, programs, and presentation decks.
- Prepare production-ready files and oversee prepress, proofing, color accuracy, print production, fabrication, and delivery.
- Build adaptable templates and design systems that allow advancement teams to create consistent, on-brand materials efficiently.
Brand Stewardship & Design Standards
- Ensure all advancement materials align with WesternU's visual identity, brand standards, and institutional values.
- Maintain visual consistency across campaigns, departments, channels, and audience touchpoints.
- Partner with University Communications & Marketing to interpret brand guidelines and develop creative solutions for advancement-specific needs.
- Establish standards for typography, photography, illustration, motion, layout, and multimedia production.
- Maintain organized design files, templates, brand assets, photography, footage, and multimedia libraries.
