Assistant Professor of Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering

The Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing at California State University, Chico invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering position beginning Fall 2027.

The primary responsibility of this position is undergraduate teaching and course development. Additional responsibilities include developing an area of scholarship and professional growth leading to dissemination through peer-reviewed forums, pursuing external funding to support research, and mentoring undergraduate students in research.

The successful candidate will also participate in student advising, academic committees and industry associations, support the Department’s Industrial Advisory Board, engage in outreach and recruitment activities, and contribute to the goals of the Program, College, and University.

The position includes advising senior capstone design teams and working closely with students and industry sponsors. Teaching assignments will be based on the qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or a closely related field. Candidates nearing completion of the degree may be considered; however, all requirements for conferral of the degree must be completed no later than the position start date.
• Broad expertise spanning Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering, including but not limited to modeling, programming, robotics, and mechanical/electrical integration.
• Strong commitment to undergraduate teaching.
• Proficiency in written and oral English.

Salary: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. The anticipated hiring range is $74,600–$158,600 per year.
