Research Associate

The Research Associate will report to Dr. Marco Tizzano. The research focus of the group is on mucosal chemical irritation and epithelial defense mechanisms during inflammation and infection. The project will investigate the role of taste pathway expressed in solitary chemosensory cells and immune cells of the gingiva and other mucosae. In the nose and gingiva they protect against nasal inflammation and periodontal disease, respectively. The candidate will be responsible for projects involving small animal (mouse) handling, and experiments of molecular biology, immunohistochemistry, cell culture, calcium imaging, immunology, and physiology. The candidate will work on a grant funded project and may develop an independent but related project and seek external funding. Research Associate positions at the university are contingent upon grant funding.
Qualifications
The successful applicant will have a Ph.D., 3-5 years postdoctoral training and experience in animal models of disease, molecular biology, immunohistochemistry, cell culture, calcium imaging, immunology, and physiology.
