Classification Pay Scale
In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Expected Pay Scale
Minimum: $145,000.00 Annually
Maximum $150,000.00 Annually

Required Qualifications

• D.D.S., DDS, PhD or D.M.D from an institution accredited by the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation or equivalent.

• Must have active California license or be qualified to obtain licensure in California.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of a residency program in Oral Medicine. 

• In academics and/or clinical research is desirable.

Essential Job Duties

• Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of courses and academic programs within the College and University. 6. Experience in teaching Biomedical Sciences curriculum to address training students to understand medically complex patients.

• Assist in developing and implementing curriculum, methods of instruction and those aspects of student life which relate to the dental educational process as assigned.
• Effectively fulfill lecture, seminar and/or clinical assignments and responsibilities as assigned.
• Independently design and present a course or portion of a course utilizing an appropriate combination of instructional methodologies, including lecture, seminar, laboratory, problem-based learning, case-based learning, and/or online modules as assigned.
• Prepare appropriate student assessments in a course or a portion of a course including quizzes, examinations, projects, oral examinations, portfolios, and/or clinical performance evaluations as assigned.
• Conduct classes and clinic assignments according to the published schedule.
• Maintain intellectual integrity and strive for academic excellence.
• At the beginning of each course, provide the students with a syllabus indicating material to be covered, related assignments, competencies to be achieved, and methods of evaluation.
• competencies supported by that lecture.
• Assist with the implementation of an efficient, patient-centered dental practice that supports the educational mission of the College.
• Assist with the implementation of the continuum of the dental students' educational training from the foundational skills in the biomedical sciences and pre-clinic to patient-centered care that integrates basic and behavioral science, as appropriate.

• Be readily available to students for mentoring and consultation.
• Advise students regarding curriculum, graduation requirements, etc., and provide referrals as appropriate.

• Establish and maintain an active research/scholarly activity program in his/her area of expertise.
• Meet requirements for promotion and tenure in the college.

• The faculty member has the right and obligation to participate in scheduled meetings of the general faculty.
• Election to the Faculty Council and election or appointment to committees should be considered a privilege and faculty members are encouraged to share in these responsibilities.
• Actively participate in appropriate professional societies and associations.

• Participate in the provision of patient care services as assigned.

• Other duties as assigned.
