Provides safe and reliable bus transportation for students, employees, and university guests, operating scheduled campus routes as well as special and extended trips - including athletic travel and off-campus university-sponsored events - in accordance with defined schedules and applicable safety regulations. Ensures accurate trip documentation to support invoicing and maintains a professional, customer-focused approach to all passengers.

Campus Route Transportation - 40%
Operates a university-owned bus (not to exceed 26,001 lbs. GVWR) along fixed campus routes on a defined day/night shift schedule, transporting students and employees.
Maintains a professional yet approachable rapport with riders, exercising sound judgment in routine passenger interactions.
Performs pre-trip/post shift vehicle inspections and reports mechanical concerns to ensure safe, on-time route operation.

Special & Extend Trip Transportation - 55%
Provides bus transportation services seven days a week, including evenings and weekends as needed, to accommodate special trip requests.
Transports students, employees, and university groups beyond the local 50-mile radius in support of athletic events, university-sponsored travel, and other special trip requests.
Plans and executes unique or non-standard routes tailored to event schedules, athletic travel logistics, and university requirements.
Completes trip documentation in accordance with P&T guidelines to support accurate and timely invoicing of special trips.

Other - 5%
Performs other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent

Other Required Qualifications
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate passenger (P) endorsement

Required Experience
At least three years of experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Experience
Previous experience operating a bus, passenger van, or similar commercial vehicle

This position is a pay grade 5. The available salary range is $30,808 to $44,666. Starting salary within this range is based on relevant years of experience.
