SUMMARY


The Department of Kinesiology, Sport Studies, and Physical Education (KSSPE) at SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for a full-time, 10 month, tenure-track Instructor position in Sport Management. The Department of KSSPE maintains the largest student enrollment on campus and houses four undergraduate majors (Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, and Sport Management). The Sport Management Major has experienced significant student growth due to its commitment to quality teaching and consistent scholarship. JOB FUNCTIONS


Essential Functions:
Teaching (70%)

  • Teaches a 4/4 course load. For these purposes, a course refers to a 3-credit course or equivalent.
  • Teaches classes in the areas of sport marketing, facility management, and sport finance.
  • Creates effective course materials, as provided in Teaching Portfolio, and demonstrates successful student learning outcomes.
  • Uses student instructional assessment survey (IAS) results to inform continuous improvement.

Scholarship (5-10%)
  • Engages in scholarly activities to produce scholarly publications, presentations, and related scholarly work.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current in the field.

Service (20-25%)
  • Actively participates in department level meetings and serves on at least one additional department committee per academic year. Faculty at this level are also expected to serve on college level committees.
  • Provides service to the department, university, community, and profession.
  • Participates in information sessions and registration.
  • Attends University events.
  • Provides academic advisement to students in the sport management program.
  • Advises the undergraduate sport management club.


REQUIREMENTS


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in sport management or related field by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university
  • The ability to teach courses in the undergraduate sport management major
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated college-level teaching experience
  • Previous experience mentoring students
  • Ability to teach graduate athletic administration-related courses
  • Previous record of publications and continued interest in publishing/presenting
  • Demonstrated commitment to service within the university and the broader community
