Facilities Services Division provides quality customer service by maintaining a safe, healthy, and aesthetically pleasing environment in which students, faculty, and staff can function and accomplish their educational objectives and by supporting a patient care culture that continuously improves. Facilities Services' responsibilities include Interior and Exterior Facilities Support, Construction, Space Management, and Environmental Services.

Job Summary

 

Repairs and prepares surfaces to be painted using appropriate materials and methods. Protects surrounding areas by utilizing necessary measures. Sets up and operates equipment needed to reach high areas to be painted. Mixes paint and other finishes using power or hand mixers. Applies paints and other finishes to interior surfaces, exterior surfaces, equipment, and furniture using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment. Restores work area to clean and safe working environment and returning furniture and other items to appropriate place. Requests needed equipment and supplies in order to maintain proper amounts of inventory needed to perform jobs in a timely manner. Coordinates paint jobs with co-workers and individuals whose workspace will be affected. Enters information into the Work Order management system as required. May be responsible for training, assisting, or assigning tasks to lower level Painters.

Responsibilities

 

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Primary Duties

Performs routine maintenance repairs to building finish components; such as: pressure washing, patching drywall & plaster, applying paints and other coatings, replacing rubber cove base, applying glazing¿s & caulking¿s, minor masonry repairs, etc.

Performs painting, staining, and varnishing structural components upon need.

Responds to Work Requests & Preventative Maintenance

Respond to work orders in a quick and timely manner.

Communicate with customer explaining if work order is completed or if further work needs to be completed.

Communicate with the Manager/ supervisor any future work that needs to be completed to ensure all Augusta University equipment is effectively operating.

Document and notify Manager/ supervisor of any equipment failure and/or potential failures.

Document all corrective actions in detail on assigned work requests.

Utilize radio/phone during scheduled work hours and respond as directed.

Performs scheduled preventive maintenance inspections of campus buildings; noting and/or repairing found deficiencies.

Performs incidental duties such as erecting and moving scaffolding and ladders, operation of manlifts, and the operation of motor vehicles.

Leadership

Utilizes effective critical thinking and strong problem-solving skills to make decisions and communicates tactfully to Facilities Operations.

Log and identify discrepancies and recommend corrective action.

Perform work in a timely and professional manner.

Performs some administrative duties such as completing information necessary to close out work orders and preventive maintenance reports.

Communications 

Consistently provide professional, accurate, tactful, and timely written and verbal communications to Facilities staff as well as other Augusta University staff.

Establishes and maintains positive collaborative working relationships with Augusta University Facilities and its¿ customers.

Performs Related Work as Required

Perform any other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

 

Educational Requirements

High school diploma or GED from a recognized state or federal organization and 3 years experience in applicable related experience. Valid drivers license.

Preferred Qualifications

 

Five or more years plumbing experience; Trade or vocational school graduation; A plumber's journeyman license or equivalent apprenticeship training; State of Georgia Backflow Preventer Certified.

  • Testing and Repair

Experience in standard interior and exterior painting practices.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

 

Must have general mechanical aptitude and be able to safely and effectively operate hand tools, physically enter and work inside of small, confined spaces, climb ladders and work at various heights. This position requires a moderate amount of physical exertion daily. That includes walking, lifting heavy objects up to (75lbs), kneeling, and crawling.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

 

Shift: Days: M-F

Pay Band: 5

Salary Minimum: $17.88/hour - $17.96/hour

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position

Conditions of Employment

 

All selected candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review prior to starting with Augusta University.

If applicable for the specific position based on the duties: the candidate will also need to have a credit check completed for Positions of Trust and or approved departmental Purchase Card usage.

Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that are required to drive an Augusta University vehicle.

For Faculty Hires: Final candidates will be required to provide proof of completed academic degree(s) as well as post-secondary coursework in the form of original transcript(s). Those candidates trained by a foreign institution will also be required to provide an educational/credential evaluation.

Driver's License Statement
