Laborer I


Responsible for assisting in performing general building and grounds maintenance work at the Newburgh Campus. Duties include mowing and trimming vegetation and grass; Assisting in performing general building and grounds maintenance work including, but not limited to, painting and renovating; door, window and hardware repair; Set up of rooms and furniture for various functions; May operate motor equipment in the performance of duties;. Snow shoveling, removal, and snow plowing required. May be required to work on varying weekends. Required to perform other tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Experience Required: None

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Must possess at time of appointment and maintain a valid driver's license.

Experience Preferred: Ability to perform routine manual work; Ability to lift heavy weights; Ability to follow oral instructions; Ability to work off ladders; Willingness to work under all weather conditions.

Additional Information:

This is a Full-Time Civil Service (Non-Competitive)- Permanent Appointment

Hours: Mon-Fri 8:00am - 4:00pm, (40 hours per week - one hour paid lunch).

Compensation: Starting Salary - $22.8880/hr (Grade 5/Step 2) Current county CSEA steps adjusted accordingly as per the contract, if warranted.

*NOTE: Upon the successful completion of one year's service, the incumbent will be eligible for automatic progression to the Laborer II Grade 6 classification.

CSEA Employees - According to contract.
