
Appointment:
Tenure-track Assistant Professor of Computer Science, beginning Fall 2027. The area of specialization is open.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will teach courses across all levels of the Computer Science curriculum, from introductory to upper level courses in one's area of specialty. The standard teaching load is six units per academic year. Candidates are expected to maintain an active program of scholarship that engages undergraduate students and to contribute to student mentoring and advising, as well as university service.
Qualifications:
PhD (or ABD) in Computer Science or in a closely related field is required by the time of appointment. A strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, mentorship, and inclusive pedagogy are required.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
Faculty salaries at the University of Puget Sound are based on a common salary scale based on experience. Assistant Professor salaries in 2026-2027 begin at $85,177 (for an assistant professor in their first year of full-time college-level teaching with the terminal degree in their field still in progress) up through $97,917 annualized based on experience.

About Computer Science at Puget Sound:
The University of Puget Sound has a long history of computing, with a Computer Science program dating to 1973. Our department is committed to providing students with a rigorous and engaging undergraduate education in computer science while creating opportunities for close collaboration between students and faculty. The department supports a chapter of Girls Who Code, and our chapter of Upsilon Pi Epsilon, the international computing honor society, is one of only four in Washington state. The department has also participated in and hosted the International Collegiate Programming Contest for the past 13 years. Faculty and students regularly gather on Friday afternoons for tea and snacks and an opportunity to decompress together at the end of the week.
