THE UNIVERSITY OF THE PACIFIC, DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Advanced Assistant or Associate Professor in Psychology to begin August 2026. The field of specialty within psychology is open, and the Department is looking for a faculty member whose expertise will both complement and expand those of the current faculty. The ideal candidate will have a record of excellent undergraduate teaching and research mentorship, a strong research program, and substantive experience as department chair or with similar administrative responsibilities. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in psychology. Review of applications will begin September 1, 2025.

The primary responsibilities include:
  • Teaching four courses per academic year (2-2 semester course load).
  • Mentoring and advising undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Engaging in scholarly activity by publishing in academic and professional journals, presenting at academic and professional conferences, and actively engaging undergraduate and graduate students in their research.
  • Serving on departmental, college, and University committees.
  • The expectation of serving one or more terms as Chair, post tenure.


The successful candidate will teach courses within general education, including introduction to psychology and the College's first-year seminar program, as well as research methods and upper-division lab courses within their area of expertise. Our faculty are dedicated teachers, mentors, and advisors who develop innovative pedagogies to enhance student learning in addition to engaging actively in scholarship and service.
