Classification Pay Scale In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.
Expected Pay Scale Minimum: $75,000.00 Annually
Maximum $85,000.00 Annually
Job Summary Under the general direction of the Associate Dean of Clinical Education and the Site Dean of HCOM, the Assistant Director of Clinical Education is responsible for providing administrative oversight and preceptor management for the Department of Clinical Education at HCOM. This includes developing, implementing, and monitoring third and fourth year clinical rotations for students pursuing the DO degree at WesternU HCOM, as well as direct and general supervision of personnel in the HCOM Department of Clinical Education.

Knowledge:
- Knowledge of program administration within a major university setting.
- Knowledge of clinical education systems, preceptor relationships, and medical school academic environments.
- Knowledge of accreditation processes and curriculum improvement practices.
Skills:
- Proven experience in the full spectrum of relationship management, external relations, and project/event management.
- Ability to prepare and present professional reports, proposals, and research findings to various stakeholder groups in written and oral form.
- Strong organization, management, and administrative skills.
Abilities:
- Ability to communicate with others in person, in writing, and by telephone.
- Ability to effectively interact with administration, faculty, staff, and students.
- Ability to work effectively with deans and directors, academic and university leaders to achieve goals.

Required Qualifications Education:
- Bachelor's Degree required.
Experience:
- Minimum of five years of management or administrative experience, preferably in a clinical or medical school academic setting.
Preferred Qualifications Education:
- Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
- Project and event management experience preferred.
- Experience managing rotations logistics and preceptor engagement in a medical school environment is highly desirable.

Essential Job Duties - Provide administrative support to the Department of Clinical Education, including operational oversight of department activities.
- Determine administrative priorities, schedule, and assign work to non-exempt staff.
- Oversee the effective management of students, preceptors, and staff.
- Ensure effective relationship management with preceptors and students on rotations.
- As directed, perform rotation site visits, conduct audits of clinical experience quality, compliance with University policy, and ensure appropriate supervision of medical students is maintained.
- Assist second-year pre-clinical students with transition to clinical years.
- Oversee event management related to Clinical Education including but not limited to Preview Day, Didactic/Conference Week, Hospital Day, and Residency Fair.
- Organize preceptor events as directed. Coordinate Didactic Weeks and rotations orientation — collect, copy, and process examinations; coordinate lecture materials; arrange for exam proctors.
- Manage student scheduling for OMS III and OMS IV; resolve conflicts between students, medical facilities, and preceptors; secure new rotation sites when needed; assist students modifying rotation schedules per departmental policy.
- Collaborate with HCOM Operations and Academic Informatics on business management systems.
- Prepare accreditation documents as needed and participate in curriculum improvement processes.
- Collaborate with various HCOM departments as directed by the Associate Dean.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
