Job Summary

Director of Development

The Director of Development provides professional skills in planning and executing all aspects of fundraising for securing gifts for the College of Science. This role manages a portfolio of donor prospects, developing tailored strategies for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

Senior Director of Development

The Senior Director of Development plans, implements, oversees, and evaluates fundraising programs in support of the university.  This role provides professional skills in planning and executing all aspects of fundraising for securing gifts for the College of Science.

Core Responsibilities

Director of Development

1. Plans, implements, oversees, and evaluates fundraising programs in support of the College of Science.

2. Manages a portfolio of major gift prospects, qualifying, cultivating, and soliciting prospects for gifts of $25,000 or more.

3. Provides specialized skills, knowledge, and leadership in the development of fundraising programs. 

4. Collaborates with advancement colleagues to identify and solicit donors and prospects. 

5. Maintains a thorough knowledge of giving vehicles and applicable legal regulations, restrictions, and tax advantages/implications. 

6. Conducts donor meetings and engagement activities; prepares timely contact reports and ensures accurate documentation of donor interactions. 

7. Engage and collaborate with college or unit volunteer leaders, advisory groups, and key stakeholders to advance fundraising and engagement priorities; provide guidance on development-related strategies and initiatives.

8. Contributes to internal and external communications, public relations, and marketing efforts for the assigned college or unit, including website content, publications, and fundraising materials.

9. Attends conferences and seminars.

10. Performs other duties as assigned.

Senior Director of Development

1. Develops and implements programs for soliciting gifts; establishes, maintains, and documents strategies of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship for a portfolio of donor prospects.

2. Provides specialized skills, knowledge, and leadership in the development of fundraising programs.

3. Coordinates with and directs development staff to identify and solicit donor prospects.

4. Maintains a thorough knowledge of giving vehicles and applicable legal regulations, restrictions, and tax advantages/implications.

5. Meets with donors to plan, prepare, coordinate, and implement plans for giving; prepares contact reports and attends prospect management meetings.

6. Develops and presents briefing presentations for University leadership and development support staff.

7. Prepares and distributes fund-raising materials.

8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Director of Development

• Five (5) years of related work experience

Senior Director of Development

• Seven (7) years of related work experience.

Both levels

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
• This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.

Physical Demands

• Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary; if walking and standing are required, only occasionally. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.

This position will work both on campus and remotely in Texas. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
