Principal Clerk - Accounts Payable Office

Responsibilities: An employee in this position is responsible for performing a variety of routine Comptroller office tasks to guarantee that all preparation for department tasks are prepared following prescribed guidelines. The work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-level employee with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative in work methods.

The Accounts Payable department is responsible for processing, verifying, and ensuring timely and accurate payment of invoices to vendors and suppliers. This position may also assist with invoice review, data entry, payment processing, vendor inquiries, filing, and other related tasks as needed. The position requires strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and the ability to follow established procedures

Other: Full-time, 12 months, Civil Service Permanent Appointment

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, 40 hours per week (one hour paid lunch). May require travel/work between both campuses.

*NOTE: This title may be filled in one of the below two manners:

1.) Through Non-Competitive appointment in accordance with the HELP Program; OR

2.) Appointment off the appropriate Civil service competitive list.

Job Requirements:
Experience Required: Completion of 30 credit hours; OR graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and one (1) year total combined work experience (work experience may include combined part-time employment).

Note: Computer literacy will be evaluated during the probationary period.

Experience Preferred: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, computer/technology experience, ability to multitask, work independently and follow directions. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Highly organized with attention to detail. Bi-lingual preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Salary: Starting salary - $24.9319/hr, Grade 7/Step 2, CSEA employees - according to contract
