Classification Pay Scale
In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Expected Pay Scale
Minimum: $28.00 Hourly
Maximum $28.00 Hourly

Job Summary
Under the general direction of Associate Dean of Pre-Clinical Affairs, or their designee, the Learning Systems Specialist provides support for the technical health and daily operations of learning platform. This role requires a detail-oriented support of the technical health and daily operations of our learning platforms. This role will be the support system for all college faculty and administrative staff, ensuring a seamless digital experience for students across multiple systems.

This position works closely with the college’s Outcomes Assessment team to ensure continuity between Pre-Clinical and Clinical curriculum outcomes and the Assistant Dean of Clinical Education, or their designee, to meet all clinical curriculum requirements.

Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job.

Knowledge:

  • Understanding of educational technology standards.


Skills:

  • Ability to translate technical issues for non-technical faculty and staff.
  • Self-managed workflow with the ability to prioritize tasks across multiple platforms.
  • Flexibility in job assignments to meet departmental priorities and emerging or unplanned initiatives.
  • Organizational skills necessary to prioritize workload to meet long and short-term deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, problem-solving abilities, adaptability to changing priorities, leadership qualities to guide and support user effectively.

Abilities:

  • Ability to handle detail-oriented assignments with accuracy and consistency.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with diverse units within the University.
  • Ability to interact effectively with administration, faculty, staff, and students is a top priority.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.
  • Ability to use multiple computer programs as needed to accomplish essential job functions.
  • Ability to effectively utilize distance communication technologies (video/web conferencing) to accomplish tasks.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to working in an organization that values and promotes humanism.

Required Qualifications
Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Instructional Design, or Educational Technology.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years related experience LMS (e.g., eMedley, Elentra, Canvas, Blackboard, or Brightspace).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications: Official certifications in specific platforms (e.g., Canvas Certified Admin, Google Educator, or CompTIA Project+).
  • Coding: Foundational knowledge of Javascript or Python for automating system tasks.
