Job Description Summary
Responsible for the management of sponsored research program funds throughout the grant lifecycle. Collaborates with investigators on proposal and budget development, compliance with University and sponsor policies, as well as oversees post-award activities such as financial monitoring, reporting, and expense reconciliation. Serves as a resource for faculty and staff and coordinates across areas to support effective administration.
This position reports to the Director of Fiscal Operations within the department and has a dotted reporting line to the PSOM Office of Research Support Services.
Job Description
Grants Manager A: The majority of duties will involve pre-award administration. The Grants Manager will be responsible for multiple monthly proposal submissions for various divisions within Translational Medicine and Human Genetics. Tasks include managing proposal development, meeting with Principal Investigators to discuss and manage budget development and related pre-award activities for diverse sponsor portfolio. Some management of post-award activities will be involved, including account setup, monitoring and review of all sponsored project expenditures and fund projections. The Grants Manager will monitor and enforce compliance with sponsor guidelines and OMB Uniform Guidance. Will meet with principal investigators to discuss and advise them on financial issues related to their portfolios. Maintain salary grids and work with payroll coordinators to ensure faculty and staff are paid correctly. Assist in the preparation of effort reports. Participate in specific projects, including the annual budget submission.
Grants Manager B: The GM B will work more independently and actively participate in specific projects including the annual budget submission. The GM B will work on the more complicated grants including training grants and program projects with multiple subcontracts. Moreover, it is expected that the GM B will have greater grants management experience than the GM A, such that s/he can make greater contributions, including engaging in financial analysis, or taking on more proposal submissions per month.
The Grants Manager position is a hybrid position, reporting in the office 3 days per week. They will report to the Director, Fiscal Operations, and will have an indirect reporting relationship to the PSOM Office of Research Support Services.

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job's level.
