Salary Range:
Librarian: Starting at $53,196 annualized with flexibility, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.
Senior Librarian: Starting at $60,918 annualized with flexibility, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Details Job SummaryThe UT San Antonio Libraries seek an Instruction Librarian who demonstrates enthusiasm and creativity in a rapidly changing information environment. This position plays a key role in supporting the institution's teaching and research missions by providing high-quality research assistance and information literacy instruction.
The Instruction Librarian works closely with the Information Literacy Coordinator to support the first-year composition program through engaging instruction. Responsibilities include in-person and virtual teaching, as well as hosted office hours. The Instruction Librarian also supports lesson plan development and collaborates with faculty to create content for online tutorials, instructional materials, and assessments.
In addition, this position serves as a liaison to the Schools of Art & Art History and Architecture & Planning, providing specialized research support and instruction for undergraduates, graduate students, and faculty, as well as collection development and supporting emerging information needs in these subjects.
Core ResponsibilitiesLibrarian
- Contributes to the development and assessment of library programs, policies, and services to promote efficient, effective operations aligned with library and institutional goals.
- Plays an active role in developing procedures for the operations of the university library.
- Stays informed of current research and trends in the field, new technologies, and professional knowledge to proactively evolve library services and introduce new and relevant programs.
- Develops and oversees departmental projects to support goals and objectives, ensuring the library effectively serves UT San Antonio's educational and informational needs.
- Gathers and analyzes data to improve services, make evidence-based decisions, and enhance user experience and engagement.
- Works collaboratively and productively with colleagues, staff from other library units, and other university departments and offices.
- May be responsible for the supervision of staff, including hiring, training, work assignment, planning, scheduling, performance evaluations, and professional development
- Serves as a Libraries liaison to the UT San Antonio departments and the community.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Senior Librarian
- Develops and evaluates library programs, policies, and services to ensure efficient and effective library services that align and support the library and institutional goals.
- Develops policies and procedures for the operations of the university library. Interprets policy, manages complex issues, and establishes the framework for consistent, high-quality library service.
- Stays informed of current research and trends in the field, new technologies, and professional knowledge to proactively evolve library services and introduce new and relevant programs.
- Develops and manages projects to enhance library services, improve operational efficiency, and meet the evolving informational and educational needs of the university. Provides guidance, mentorship, and directions to other library staff and project teams.
- Analyzes and interprets data to improve services, make evidence-based decisions, and enhance user experience and engagement. Reports on trends and patterns to library leadership to support data-based decisions and strategic planning.
- Works collaboratively and productively with colleagues, staff from other library units, and other university departments and offices.
- Manages staff, including hiring, training, work assignment, planning, scheduling, performance evaluations, and professional development.
- Serves as a liaison between the UT San Antonio departments and the community. Serves as a mentor to other librarians.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required QualificationsLibrarian
- ALA-accredited Master's degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science.
- Experience working in a library or information environment.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.
Senior Librarian
- ALA-accredited Master's degree in Library Science or Library and Information Science.
- Three years of experience in a related field.
- This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48.
Preferred Qualifications- Experience working in an academic library setting.
- Demonstrated ability to provide creative and innovative learning experiences through the application of appropriate pedagogies and educational technologies.
- Demonstrated passion and ability to teach students to use both online and physical material.
- Degree or course work in Art History.
- Familiarity with key information resources in art, art history, or architecture.

Working Conditions- Office Environment. Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events. After-hours and weekend work are required occasionally.
Physical Demands- Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary; if walking and standing are required, only occasionally. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
This position will work primarily
on campus. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.
