Position Summary:
The standardized patient and simulation center (SIM) technologist will serve as the center’s expert on all technology within the Standardized Patient (SP) training program including B-line, ultrasound, and simulation software. This position serves as the operational leader for all events and activities both on and off campus and contributes to meeting the requirements of the program by working with internal and external clients, as well as planning future events. Responsibilities encompass problem assessment and management on-site and off-site, ensuring quality events, fostering relationships, assigning tasks, and directing the duties of temporary and student workers. The SIM technologist plays a role in orienting and organizing learners involved in program events and activities. Additionally, the position involves facilitating standardized patient sessions and maintaining effective communication among administration personnel, standardized patients, clients, and the public. The technologist also contributes to the recruitment, screening, and selection of SPs. Exceptional flexibility and interpersonal skills are essential for building positive relationships with participants, enabling them to respond effectively to the program’s needs in various situations.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education and experience that equates to four years.
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Familiarity with standardized patient programs or simulation center technologies.
Demonstrated ability to accomplish assignments and projects independently, to work well as part of a team, and to exercise judgment in setting priorities.
Demonstrated positive interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
Ability to learn new technology and equipment.
Ability to travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience utilizing medical equipment and medical technology.
Basic understanding of medical terminology.
Ability to be flexible and adaptable in various work situations.
Working knowledge of SAP, B-Line, point-of-care ultrasound, and standardized patient methodology.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Serves as the super user for all technology within the Standardized Patient Program Simulation Center (SPPSC) and is responsible for the creation, programming, and testing of simulation scenarios, evaluations, and data extraction.
Creates reports for the SP Simulation Center Manager as requested.
Oversees the implementation and training of all new technologies for the center.
Works with the medical education office to coordinate scheduling, calendar maintenance, and program communication needs for the program staff.
Serves as the main contact for the clinical skills center and all demonstrations and courses and ensures that all medical student activities are accurately monitored and timed.
Oversees all pre and post event activity including room set up, technology programming, supply inventory, personnel scheduling, delivering student instructions, staffing, operation of audio-visual recording equipment and simulation control software/hardware, along with post-event- debriefing with students and staff, properly logging recordings for evaluation, and provide post-event reports to the supervisor as required.
Tracks and reconciles the SPPSC cost center, performs accounts receivable processing and tracking, and creates monthly budget reports for the Manager’s review.
Identifies and utilizes appropriate cost-effective resources (staff, equipment, software, learning resources) for educational activities.
Coordinates all purchases for maintenance, operation equipment, supplies, and software and liaises with simulation equipment companies for any needed repairs/demonstrations.
Works with medical faculty to design and implement high fidelity simulation scenarios; this includes ordering the necessary supplies and assisting with simulation set up, creating scenarios using Laerdal programs, manikin, and computer testing, and running simulation sessions as the simulation technician.
Collaborates with faculty and staff from programs within the university to develop, implement, and evaluate clinical skills teaching and assessment activities, utilizing current best practices and ensuring that programming is in line with university policies and procedures.
Assists with teaching BLS, Wound Closure, Scrub Training, and physical exam skills.
Serves as a backup for SP training and coordination as needed.
Travels to outside locations for programs/events as needed.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
