Position Summary:The digital media coordinator leads the day to day execution and continuous improvement of WCMU’s digital presence, ensuring a cohesive, audience centered experience across web, mobile, social, email, and emerging platforms. This position manages WCMU.org, produces and oversees WCMU’s monthly program guide, and creates visual and multimedia assets used across the organization. This work is done under the supervision of the marketing manager. Working collaboratively across content, marketing, development, and programming teams, the digital media coordinator applies current best practices in digital storytelling, accessibility, analytics, sponsorship integration, and platform optimization. The position stays informed on evolving technologies, audience behaviors, and ethical standards relevant to public media.
Required Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in digital media, communications, journalism, graphic design, web design, marketing, public relations, or a related field; or a combination of education and professional experience that equates to four years.
Demonstrated experience using modern content management systems (e.g., Brightspot/Grove, WordPress, or similar).
Demonstrated experience producing digital and print content, including graphics, layouts, infographics, logos, publications, flyers, banners, and multimedia assets.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adapt in a fast paced, collaborative environment.
Strong written, visual, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments.
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and Acrobat.
Preferred Qualifications:Two (2) years of professional experience in digital media, web publishing, content design, or a related field.
Experience working in a journalism or media environment.
Familiarity with audience engagement tools, email platforms (e.g., Constant Contact or similar), and CRM adjacent workflows.
Experience supporting digital revenue initiatives, sponsorship placements, or underwriting across web and social platforms.
Familiarity with analytics and measurement tools (e.g., Google Analytics 4 or comparable platforms) and the ability to use insights to inform content and platform decisions.
Working knowledge of motion, audio, or video editing tools such as Premiere Pro, After Effects, or Audition.
Awareness of accessibility standards (WCAG), inclusive design practices, and ethical considerations in digital publishing.
Experience working with or alongside AI assisted tools for content creation, design, or workflow automation, with an understanding of editorial integrity and best practices.
Duties & Responsibilities:Creates, curates, edits, and publishes content across WCMU’s digital platforms, including WCMU.org, the WCMU mobile app, email newsletters, and social media channels.
Manages the design, production, and distribution of The Guide, WCMU’s monthly print and digital program guide, including layout, editing, and content coordination.
Produces additional digital and print content, including graphics, infographics, logos, publications, flyers, banners, and multimedia assets.
Collaborates with content producers and station staff to enhance digital storytelling through visuals, structure, accessibility, and platform appropriate formats.
Maintains and evolves WCMU’s website structure, presentation, and usability in alignment with audience needs and organizational goals.
Applies audience data, performance metrics, and platform insights to inform content prioritization and digital strategy.
Develops and maintains consistent brand standards across digital and printed materials, in collaboration with marketing staff.
Coordinates and manages digital sponsorship placements, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and seamless integration with editorial content.
Supports station events (including occasional attendance), fundraising, and engagement initiatives through digital promotion and content development.
Monitors trends and best practices in digital media, public media innovation, and audience engagement, sharing relevant insights with the team.
Participates in ongoing professional development to maintain technical skills, platform knowledge, and industry awareness.
