The position of Admission Counselor - International and Transfer Specialist is an integral part of Carroll University's enrollment staff, who is determined to see that the college's enrollment goals are met successfully. The individual must be committed to personal attention, follow-up, and adept at matching prospective students' needs with Carroll offerings.
Responsibilities:International Admission (65%)- Represent the university at select domestic and international recruitment activities.
- Perform consumer-based counseling with international agents, international high school students, and their supporters to show them how Carroll University can meet their needs.
- Counsel accepted applicants on the financial aid process, the college's financial aid philosophy, and the specifics of individual financial aid awards.
- Counsel prospective international students through the application process and facilitate questions related to the university's academic, social, cultural, financial, and athletic environments.
- Perform quality and timely follow-up with prospective students and other stakeholders, including international agents.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with various administrative and academic departments to support the enrollment of international students.
- Conduct on-campus interviews with prospective students and supporters.
- Participate in Open House and other Admission Office events.
- Meet targeted enrollment goals through the establishment of effective recruitment strategies and relationship management.
- Collaborate with university's Marketing and Communication Department to develop effective international marketing materials including print, web, video and social media.
- Work with the Director to develop and maintain an international communication plan.
- Be responsible for initial I-20 issuance for all incoming international students.
- Develop and utilize an understanding of U.S. immigration laws and regulations to evaluate and determine the appropriate course of action when there is a change in student status of international students.
- Assist with the coordination of arrival and orientation details and activities for new international students.
- Assist in the coordination of special summer and short-term programs which contribute to increased international enrollments.
- Coordinate and supervise international student worker schedules and tasks.
Transfer admission (35%)- Prospect for qualified students by visiting community colleges within your territory and representing Carroll at selective college fairs.
- Educate community and technical college advisors in your assigned territory about Carroll University.
- Perform consumer-based counseling with transfer students and high school students and their supporters to show them how Carroll University can meet their needs.
- Review transfer application credentials for students from your territory, make admission decisions, and award merit-based scholarships.
- Counsel accepted applicants and parents on the financial aid process, the college's financial aid philosophy, and the specifics of individual financial aid awards.
- Perform quality and timely follow-up with prospective students, parents, and community/technical college personnel.
- Participate in Open House and other Admission Office events.
- Conduct on-campus interviews with prospective students and parents.
- Meet targeted enrollment goals through the establishment of effective recruitment strategies and relationship management.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:Education and/or Experience:- Bachelor's degree required
- 1-2 years of sales experience preferred
- Previous experience in higher education undergraduate admission preferred
Technology Skills:- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to use University software to create & maintain student admissions records
- Ability to write, analyze and develop comprehensive reports
- Strong analytical abilities
Human Relations Skills:- Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, ability, socio-economic background, or job type.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
- Client focused sense of urgency and responsiveness.
- Ability to listen effectively, work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Sensitivity to the needs of students
Additional Qualifications:- Must have valid driver's license and be insurable under the University's plan
- Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident as mandated by federal regulations pertaining to Designated School Officials under Student Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) rules.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Candidates must be willing and able to support and advance the University mission.
Compliance: - Employees may be required to report violations of law under Title IX and the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act).
