Salary Range: Up to $75,504/Annualized, commensurate with education, experience, and qualifications.

Job Summary

The Grant and Contact Administrator III provides pre-award and post-award services related to proposal preparation, review, approval, and award administration. This role uses advanced grant and contract concepts to manage moderate volume and transactions. This position supports the financial and administrative management requirements of grant and contract proposals, awards, and transactions to ensure compliance with institutional and sponsor policies.



Core Responsibilities
  1. Provides “cradle to grave” institutional support of grants and contracts.

  2. Utilizes advanced knowledge of processes, policies, and regulations to coordinate and administer multiple programs, and projects.

  3. Reviews, approves, and submits moderately complex grant or contract proposals, budgets, and awards such as grants/contracts which require task budgets, option years, multiple investigators, and multiple sub awards, obtains and verifies necessary compliance approvals. May be eligible for delegated institutional signature authority.

  4. Negotiates terms and conditions of moderately complex grant, contract, and subcontract proposals and awards from various sponsors.

  5. Reviews, approves or rejects award management requests and financial transactions.

  6. Engages and advises principal investigators, unit research administrators, college representatives, and management on policies, best practices, and proposals/awards terms and conditions.

  7. Provides policy and procedure interpretation to principal investigators, college representatives, and management.

  8. Maintains professional relationship and serves as an institutional liaison with sponsor representatives.

  9. Develops and recommends procedures, standards, and guidelines.

  10. Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.

  • Three (3) years of related work experience.
  • At the discretion of the hiring department, additional experience may substitute for education on a one year for one year basis.

  • This position requires the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal funding regulations, including 2 CFR 200 and FAR.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex policy and principles independently.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Central office experience.

Working Conditions
  • Office Environment. Requires the regular engagement of colleagues within and outside of the unit, principal investigators, unit business officers, and sponsor representatives.


Physical Demands
  • Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary, if walking and standing are required, only occasionally. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasional.


This position will work both on campus and remotely in Texas. Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility.

This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable. Applicants selected must be able to show proof of eligibility to work in the United States by time of hire.
