The Diesel Maintenance Technician will contribute a crucial role in helping the College develop, organize, and support the Diesel Mechanics training programs. The successful candidate must stay updated with changes in Automotive Service Excellence Certifications (ASE). This reports to the Department Head, Applied Technology and Professional Services. This is a grant-funded position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensures safety in maintenance and repair equipment, facilities, and laboratory areas.
Addresses hazards associated with the commercial repair and maintenance environment.
Maintains inventory and records of items entering and leaving the tool room and the site.
Performs routine preventive maintenance of tools and equipment, including mockup boards.
Supports faculty, staff, and students to ensure safe and efficient operations that meet program requirements and standards.
Prepares lab materials, supplies, tools, and equipment for student lab projects.
Assists Diesel Mechanics program instructors in monitoring students in the classroom, lab, or bay environment as needed.
Conducts inventory and assists in replenishing all Diesel Mechanics program consumables, tools, and supplies.
Assists with the setup and maintenance of equipment in shops, labs, bay, and ramp areas.
Troubleshoots, maintains, and makes minor repairs to equipment and training aids as needed.
Responsible for knowing and conforming to all safety practices and regulations that apply to this specific area and position. Unsafe conditions should be reported to the immediate supervisor and to the Pensacola State College Police Department/Public Safety.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
Must be able to lift objects of various sizes and weights up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to read, interpret, and follow Material Safety Data Sheets.
Must be able to read, interpret, and follow written procedures, diagrams, and instructions.
Regular and consistent attendance, as well as punctuality, are essential to fulfilling the requirements of this job.
Required work time may involve some evenings and variations in work hours for registration and special related events.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or GED equivalency and basic proficiency with computers and Microsoft Word and Excel programs. Experience in maintaining and auditing laboratory/shop equipment. Successful results of a criminal background check and drug screening are required.
Pursuant to College policy, it is an employment eligibility requirement for an applicant to meet the requirements of § 435.04(2), Florida Statutes, related to background investigations. Any person failing to meet the requirements of the statute will be deemed not qualified to hold employment in this position. A Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) approved background check will be conducted on every successful candidate as a condition of employment, and any person who fails to disclose any adverse information contained in the background investigation at the time of submitting the employment application will be disqualified from employment.
Preferred Qualifications: Heavy Equipment or Diesel Maintenance experience.
Annual Salary: $40,800.00
