Classification Pay Scale
In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Expected Pay Scale
Minimum: $215,000.00 Annually
Maximum $225,000.00 Annually

Job Summary
This is a College of Graduate Nursing Administration-level position within Western University of Health Science and is offered in conjunction with a faculty appointment. Together, the administrative role of Site Dean, CGN-NW (PCN A04020) and the faculty role (PCN F03343) comprise a full-time position (1.0 FTE).

The salary range listed in this posting represents the total compensation for the combined Administrative and Faculty responsibilities. Please refer to the corresponding job posting under our Faculty jobs section for details on the additional assignment.

The Site Dean, CGN-NW, is the administrative leader of the College of Graduate Nursing – Oregon’s academic components. The Site Dean, CGN-NW, reports directly to the Dean, CGN, and CGN-NW and has general responsibility for implementation and coordination of all academic functions within the College as assigned by the Dean, CGN, and CGN-NW. The associate and assistant deans and other heads of academic components of CGN report to the Site Dean, CGN-NW, for administrative components of their academic responsibilities for curriculum delivery and student academic success.

The Site Dean, CGN-NW, supports the Dean, CGN, and CGN-NW in allocating and utilizing resources for the implementation of all its academic programs. Reporting to the Dean, CGN and CGN-NW, the Site Dean is responsible for exercising leadership in the delivery of programs of instruction, research, and services across the academic components, and works closely with administration to fulfill this responsibility. The position also works closely with members of the CGN Executive Leadership Team and is guided by an awareness of the College’s overall goals when making recommendations and taking actions that affect the academic programs. The Site Dean, CGN-NW, may consult with individuals and groups within the College in carrying out the position responsibilities.

  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills. 
  • Ability to communicate with others, both in person and by using computers, telephones, and written communications. Ability to interact effectively with administration, faculty, staff, students, and outside contacts.

  • Ability to handle detail-oriented assignments and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and to access information through the Internet and communicate via e-mail.

  • Organizational skills necessary in prioritizing workload and delegating responsibility.
  • Experience in assessing, designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating graduate nursing leadership training and development programs.
  • Proven success in partnering with executive and senior leaders to translate College objectives and priorities into effective learning programs.
  • Experience coaching and developing leadership talent.
  • Experience in implementing and leading mentoring programs.
  • Successful in establishing and maintaining excellent professional relationships.
  • Proven success in analyzing performance problems, conducting needs assessment, and implementing appropriate solutions.
  • Expertise in building and implementing competency management processes for leadership development and career succession.
  • Ability to anticipate organizational changes to respond proactively or modify plans.
  • Knowledge and skill with the application of distance learning principles and standards.
  • Organizational skills necessary in prioritizing workload and delegating responsibility.
  • Knowledge of historic and current nursing education practices and standards.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to working in an organization that values and promotes humanism.

Required Qualifications
Education:

  • A Doctor in Nursing Practice or Ph.D. in Nursing degree is required.


Experience:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Director, or Assistant/Associate Dean, or equivalent experience in a nationally accredited graduate nursing program.
  • A minimum of five (5) years working with leaders in healthcare and academia is required.

Licensure:

  • Must possess a current RN license.

Preferred Qualifications
Education:

  • Organizational development, executive health care leadership, business administration, management, and executive coaching certification are preferred.


Experience:

  • Experience working with assessment tools, coaching, succession management, leadership development, and organizational development practices.
  • Familiar with building successful coaching relationships with demonstrated outcomes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with extensive experience in management, with the ability to mentor and lead a team of highly capable professionals.
