In compliance with SB 1162, Western University of Health Sciences is providing a pay scale for this position. The pay scale reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position. Within this range, the individual pay is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, relevant education or training, and work location. Please note that the compensation details listed reflects the base salary only.

Minimum: $70,304.00 Annually
Maximum $70,304.00 Annually

Job Summary

This position supports the Office of Clinical Relations by ensuring the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of clinical education experiences for students. The role is responsible for monitoring student and preceptor evaluations, identifying concerns, and facilitating timely resolution to maintain a high standard of clinical training.

The incumbent serves as a key liaison between WesternU College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM), students, preceptors, and clinical sites, ensuring clear and effective communication across all stakeholders. Responsibilities include assisting with oversight of clinical sites through site visits, safety and facility inspections, and documentation to ensure compliance with institutional standards and a safe, positive learning environment.

This role requires regular travel to affiliated clinical sites to conduct in-person evaluations and safety inspections, with driving distances that may reach up to 100 miles per day.

Additionally, the position supports the enforcement of CVM policies and procedures, assists in the training and development of preceptors, and contributes to the recruitment of new clinical sites and preceptors. The role also plays a critical part in preparing reports and documentation required for quality assurance and accreditation processes.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Basic comfort and familiarity with veterinary clinical activities in hospital and ambulatory settings involving various animal species (including dogs, cats, horses, cows, birds, fish, and exotic animals) is required. The position requires skills and physical abilities to safely navigate through an active veterinary practice setting without disruption of activity inherent in these sites.

The position also requires the following skills and abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, in writing and oral form, both in person and by alternate electronic means (e. g., email, videoconference, text, phone).
  • Ability to effectively interact with administration, faculty, staff, students and outside partners.
  • Ability to handle detail-oriented assignments with extensive follow-up and maintain confidentiality.
  • Organizational skills necessary in prioritizing workload and assuring efficiency in operation.
  • Proficiency with common computer software (word processing, spreadsheets, email, and virtual communication).
  • Ability to translate Cal/OSHA training into practical application at clinical sites.
  • Ability to travel by automobile, airplane, or other common conveyance to urban and rural locations.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to working in an organization that values and promotes humanism.


Required Qualifications

Education:
Registered Veterinarian Technician (RVT) or equivalent


Preferred Qualifications

PREFERRED: Safety training and certification, (e. g., 30-hour Cal/OSHA or OSHA certificate).
